Not Impressed
Not impressed with this book. I have bought Lammle books before and have been satisfied.I bought this book to prepare for Cisco exam 300-710. Although the book may be a good resource to learn the some of the Firepower technology, it did not fully prepare me for the exam (I later learned that this is supposed to be Volume 1 of 2, great only get 1/2 the info)The book itself is full of spelling errors, syntax errors and some missing figures/pictures. There is no index or table of contents with page numbers, therefore not easy to find info on a particular keyword or topic when you need to.The pages are numbered, but not labeled with a chapter number or chapter title, you have no way of knowing where you are in the book, or where the chapters start and end (short of flipping through the pages.)The figures and tables also are not numbered, and in the text there are no references to particular images. It appears that this is nothing but a printed PDF file, and a rushed one at that...like Lammle wanted to be the first to market with a book on the exam.Overall, not very well executed at all...wait for the offiicial Cisco book.

Things to be aware of
I'm giving this book the benefit of the doubt (4/5), having only read the introduction. It's possible that the content is fantastic, although I'm a little skeptical. What I didn't catch before ordering is that this is volume 1 of 2, so it only covers half of the exam objectives, and it's very large print, so the 679-page tome you receive doesn't have nearly as much content as you think it does. I can't justify two books as expensive as this one is just for a single exam, so I'll be returning it.I did attend one of Mr. Lammle's Firepower classes a few years ago and he knows the product inside and out, so if the cost of the book doesn't put you off, it's probably worth a try.

Only volume 1 of 2
I didn't not realize before receiving it that this books is only one of two in a series covering the exam 300-710 SNCF topics, so it only covers half the objectives. Also, it is very large print and verbose, so though the size of the book is enormous, the content is not dense. It is written much more like a conversational teaching book than an encyclopedic reference full of information. It would probably be quite good for someone helping to get started using the Firepower platforms, but does not fit my needs, so I will be returning it.

Great book!
Well structured and written book for Cisco Firepower! This is the perfect tool for studying and learning all you need to manage FTD. I definitely recommend this book!

A thoughtful and well articulated edition.
A much needed refresh to the Firepower series of books in the wild and released in the recent years. It's clear Todd put significant time and effort in capturing what admins and engineers want to know! Kudos and TY!

Seems like it was rushed to the press
I have been a fan of Todd's work for a while, he is a stellar instructor and a veritable font of information. This book is, in my opinion, not up to par with my expectations. It was the only book out for this elective (and as of this writing the official CiscoPress book for this exam has still not released) but it is not made clear |ANYWHERE| except for the small print on the cover that this is Volume 1 of 2 - I feel like this is a bit of a lie of omission, because this book covers maybe 40% of the exam content and there is as of now no ETA for when Volume 2 of 2 will be released. The fact that this is one in a series should be made very clear in the title and description for the listing, and I feel this is a reasonable criticism as I am not the only one who ran into the same thing. It seems like it was a way to get something out well before CiscoPress was able to but with unfortunately little foresight and lackluster content. This ended up being useless for the exam for me, and I would not recommend it.

Essential for 300-710 Exam!!
This book is critical if you want to understand the topics needed for the Cisco 300-710 exam. I have been to several in person classes taught by Todd and this book put in writing the things you need to understand in order to pass. They are written the exact way he would teach you in person. I highly recommend this book.
