DS4850EH Dual Fuel Portable Generator-4850 Watt Gas or Propane Powered Electric Start-Camping & RV Ready, 50 State Approved, Red/Black

I wanted to do a review of this wheel kit because I was searching for a universal kit and could not find any information on whether this would work for other generators. First I bought a new sportsman 3000/4000 duel fuel generator and could not find the wheel kit that goes to this particular model. Instead I chose to take the chance of getting this kit and see if I could modify to fit the sportsman. I read other reviews that said they modified theirs and it worked so I thought I would try because the price was good and it had good ratings. The kit came packed well with instructions. The instructions didn’t seem very helpful for the generator this kit was designed for but I looked them over for any tips. The first thing I noticed was that the axel would not work with the harness provided because the crossbar on the sportsman is too narrow. I went to hardware store and purchased two U-bolts the same size as the bolts and harness that came with the kit. I secured the axel with the U-bolts and used the xtra nuts provided to lock the U-bolts in place. Came out very sturdy. The feet fit in the front crossbar and I just had to drill one xtra hole each side to secure. Came out very sturdy and level. Lastly I drilled two holes for the handle bar on the frame. I just centered the bracket. Make sure the drill is level and drill through both ends. Last thing to do was to drill a hole for the brace that secures the handle in place when not in use. This was a little tricky because the gas tank sits on the cross bar and there is little room for a hole the size of the bolt. I came from underneath the bar up towards the gas tank and made sure I was careful not drill through the flange of the gas tank. I don’t think you would damage if you did but I didn’t want to take the chance. I have to say that it came out quite nicely. It took about a hour total for install because of all the modifications and measurements. I spent less than $4 on the U-bolts. The sportsman kit is $40+ so I saved money. This kit is very sturdy. The wheels are soft rubber not hard plastic. The handle is sturdy when moving the generator. The feet are sturdy as well and have soft rubber on the bottom. The handle bracket holds the handle in place when using the generator. Generators vibrate a lot when in use so the soft rubber wheels and feet will be helpful. All in all very good kit. I would say that if you are looking for a universal kit and have a basic generator with a metal frame that you could use this kit for most if not all generators with little modifications. I hope this helps another looking for a good, sturdy wheel kit for their generator.

The following is my opinion ... it is what worked for me. This Wheel Kit is a must for the DuroStar DS4000S Generator. Once installed this fine Wheel Kit is outstanding. Unfortunately, the included instructions are poor and the instructions on YouTube are not much more helpful. The attached picture I have created is basically a paint-by-number set of instructions. If you turn the Generator over and do #1, then #2, then #4 ... flip the unit upright and install the Handle using #3 and #5 it will be done in a short period of time. Side note: The DuroStar DS4000S instructions stated you must remove a YELLOW Shipping Brace, with emphasis on YELLOW. In truth, the Shipping Brace is sometimes BLACK, I repeat, Black. I suspect the customers that have had to drill holes to install the Wheel Kit have NOT removed that Shipping Brace because it is BLACK not YELLOW. It is easy to tell if it has not been removed. The Oil Drain Plug is a 10mm Hex Screw near the bottom of the Oil Pan. There should be some space beneath it so the Oil can be drained directly into a pan. If there is a black piece of metal directly below the Oil Drain Plug making it impossible to drain the Oil directly straight down then the BLACK Brace has not been removed. The Brace is 11 7/8" long and has 4 Bolts and Nuts ... remove it.

It had no instructions,but was was able to install it pretty quick. The parts fit perfectly (for the the durastar s4000)with out having to remove existing parts and flipping the generator upside down.

I like this product, purchased for this specific generator. Once installed, it is so much easier to move the generator to/from the storage shed when needed. Fortunately, I immediately realized I was not going to be able to move it around before I added gas and oil!Pros:1) the generator was more of a problem than the wheel kit, as the holes did not line up and drilling through metal was involved.2) maneuverability is good3) handle is short, so not easy on the back if you're over 5ft tall. But still much easier than picking it up to move it!2) No missing parts.3) It works well for the intended generator once installed.4) aside from the missing hole, wrong size wrenches, and unclear directions, it was easy to put together with the new generator upside down (before gas or oil). It would be more difficult with a generator that must remain right side up due to tight spaces and limited visibility.5) The wheels only added about 3" to the height, so I can store it in its intended shed space.Cons:1) the holes in the generator for the feet were covered with metal and I had to drill one large hole through the metal to install.2) the wrenches provided are metric and the hardware was standard inches. Fortunately I had 1/2" and 5/16" wrenches available, although I stripped a bolt smooth trying to use the wrench provided and had some difficulty with it.3) No numbers on parts list to match the picture, so figuring out what bolt went where was tricky.4) The rubber feet that came with the generator had to be removed so that the wheel axle could turn. No tool provided the correct size, and this was not mentioned in instructions.5) The instructions did not say on which side to install the wheels and feet. I had to look at online photos to figure it out. The product image for the wheels on Amazon just showed one photo of the individual parts.I hope this helps. A valuable addition to my generator which needs to be moved during frequent power outages.

Took a chance and bought this kit to try on my Champion 4000 generator. It was a close fit, just had to drill some new holes. Good quality kit.

Mis sur ma génératrice champion. On a simplement du percer pour installer les pattes et la poignée. Tout est parfait!

I was able to adapt this kit for a different model generator. the solid axle is very strong. Great kit.
