.com Animators Trey Parker and Matt Stone poke barbed fun at the Sundance Film Festival and its band of shallow Hollywood producers and hangers-on in this first of two South Park episodes in volume 11. While Chef tries to capitalize on South Park's influx of visitors by cooking up chocolate confections with the appetizing yet repulsive name of "Chef's Salty Chocolate Balls," Mr. Hanky chokes in the sewer from increased sewage flow. This last bit of plot is the hardest to (pardon the expression) swallow, but beyond this it's a wickedly funny tale that rips on Hollywood fads and pseudo-intellectual film lovers. "Chickenpox" is the wildly hilarious story of the boys' parents working together to get the boys to catch chickenpox by staying overnight at Kenny's poor, waffles-for-dinner home. When the boys discover they've been deceived and have "chicken herpes," they seek devious revenge using a herpes-laden prostitute whose antics will make you both cringe in offended horror and laugh hysterically at the same time. --Karen Karleski

5 Seasons In Beautiful HD!
This review is for the actual blu-ray box set of South Park seasons 1-5 as pictured on this page with a pretty cool photo collage style graphic of (by now iconic) Kenny. As of my writing this review in June of 2019, the first 5 seasons of South Park (beautifully remastered in HD) can be purchased for a grand total of about $35 in one compact set. To me that’s a bit mind-blowing as I vividly recall how much a single DVD season of this show would cost in the early 200Xs and the quality on those standard definition sets can’t even begin to approach the gorgeous presentation available on these HD blu-ray presentations. Not only have the creators (Trey and Matt) gone back to the early seasons and completely re-rendered them in true high definition, they’ve also thoughtfully expanded the picture on both sides (with ZERO cropping!) to fill our modern widescreen televisions. The result is spectacular and the absolute best, definitive presentation that these episodes will ever have. Period. That being said, I’m also pleased to say that the early seasons are just as funny now as they were when they originally aired. So much so that, due to my enjoyment, I completely lost track of time the first night after receiving this set. Ended up watching an entire disc after planning to only check out a few episodes!Really looking forward to working my way through all 5 seasons and moving on to the next set (6-10) as soon as I am able. As of this week two more sets containing the next 10 seasons have begun to appear in “the wild” (AKA Wal-Mart) and should hopefully be making their way to Amazon here pretty soon. That means 4 sets, each with 5 HD seasons, containing the majority of South Park’s entire run are out there for you to grab and enjoy forever. Could definitely think of worse ways to part with my money.*Side effects may include extreme fits of uncontrollable laughter and completely losing all track of time during initial viewing of this set.

All the discs are fine, but the case came broken and doesn't close
The media could not be loaded. The discs were perfect, no problems there. Only problem was the case, the case came broken and didn't close. I don't think this really affects the product itself, because the delivery is what really breaks the case. But it's still something to watch out for

Best way to watch South Park.
This box set is amazing. A lot of work went into it. All the episodes have been re-animated in HD & widescreen. Excluding the pilot episode because it was made with real stop-animation. Also, there are a few flashbacks that are the original SD animation. But it's very brief & sort of makes sense. Don't watch Hulu. Get it on Blu Ray.

Bluray Release CON: Special features prepended S1-S2!!!
This is for the box set of South Park S1-S5 in Blu Ray.Pros include: 1080p, updated audio, etc.**NOTABLE CON:** Each episode in Season 1 and part of Season 2 is prefaced with a commentary skit, a ~1-2 minute clip of the creators explaining background (or lack thereof) for a particular episode. These special features are not packaged separately - they are MERGED into the actual episode track, as if they were part of the original episode. In other more recent blu ray releases of South Park, they include editions of episodes with twitter posts overlayed from when the episode originally aired. Notably - these overlay editions were separate tracks/playlists on the disk: You could choose to watch as aired or with the twitter overlay added. With this release, you do not have the option. So if you are rewatching the episodes, you are always prefaced with these special features. Special features should be packaged as separate items, not merged into the episodes. You can work around this by skipping the first chapter of every episode. What a terrible way to package special features. Seasons 2.5->5 appear to be unaffected

Great collection for South Park fans
The Episodes on it are-Best Friends Forever- Good episode, Kenny is the first person to get a PSP in South Park. He dies and goes to heaven to fight Hell's army. 4/5Cancelled- Earth is a reality television show and it's going to be cancelled! The boys go to space to try to get the inter-galactic space television commitee to change their minds. Great episode. 4.5/5The Simpsons Already Did It- Cartman gets seapeople while Butters trys to destroy the earth with evil plans. Unfortunately, all his ideas were already done on the Simpsons. My favorite episode on the disc. 5/5Towelie- Stan gets the new video game system that the boys become obsessed over while they meet their new friend, the weed smoking towel Towelie! Decent episode, my least favorite but it's still good. 3.5/5Trapper Keeper- Cartman buys a Dawson's Creek trapper keep that is WAY cooler than Kyles! Cartman doesn't realize that it is an instrument of destruction, and a man named Bill Cosby tries to get it from him. Meanwhile Ike runs for class president. Pretty funny episode. 4/5If you are a fan of South Park and you own a PSP, I'd reccomend this UMD for you.

southpark
the dvd comes in a pretty good sized box with the dvds aranged in order from seasons 1 to 5unfortunately, when I opened the dvd box, most of the disks fell out on the floor, or fell from their case in to the boxthe content of the dvd is good. it's southpark, after all, and the reason I purchased it in the first place was before all my favorite episodes are the old school ones.what I am not so happy with are the interviews with trey and matt in the earlier episodes, and the making bacon thing. what does making a bacon sandwich have to do with southpark?. absolutely nothing

Disappointed Copies
I’m kind of disappointed, i love south park and was so excited to finally get them on dvd but when i received them i noticed the discs looked like copies and there was no list of the episodes either and while trying to watch them the odd time the discs caused rainbow colours roll down my tv screen... which is something copies usually do from time to time... i expected items sold and dispatched from Amazon would be real and if they were copies then it would be in the description to let everyone know before buying them.

Great set
The disk designs are great, each one has a different design. Unfortunately the disks don’t have the season number on them but it isn’t a huge issue. The disks weren’t on the disk holder things properly but they weren’t damaged and I managed to sort them out fairly easily, definitely recommend.

It's time to dump the DVD's - The Blu-Ray's rock!
Great upgrade from the original poor quality DVD releases. All but the first episode have been reanimated by computer and are in 1.78:1 wide-screen, the first episode has been rescanned from film to HD but kept the 1.33:1 aspect ratio. Creator commentaries by Trey Parker and Matt Some have been recorded for all episodes.I was unsure when or if the UK would get a region B release and gambled on a USA import, they all however play on my unhacked blu-ray player. I do not know if they are region free or my standard UK Samsung UBD K8500 can play region A discs.Delivery only took 3 days but I paid extra for faster delivery.I am sure anybody purchasing will know if their a fan but it's great to re-watch in fantastic quality and well worth the upgrade. My only complaint as with the original DVD's is the annoying introductions from Trey and Matt but these end at episode 12 of season 2.
