The taste of the Spice Route
This really is rather special and I have just ordered my second bottle, which is praise indeed as I do try to buy a different gin each time. This is not a flavoured gin (such as the rhubarb gins you can buy) but rather a spiced gin - it is still very clearly a gin, with all the complex flavours you expect, but with the balance shifted away from botanicals and towards spices. The spice is very present in both scent and taste, with the predominant flavours for me being pepper and aniseed, with a slight smokiness - personal experience will vary of course. The scent is wonderfully exotic and you can immediately imagine yourself in the spice markets of Dar-es-Salaam.I drink gin both neat and with tonic. This is a brilliant neat gin to sip, savour and then swallow. A warming drink of a winter's eve. With tonic, either go for fairly strong mix with Fevertree Mediterranean tonic over ice, or for a refreshing tall one use a standard tonic (Fevertree Naturally Light gets my vote), over lots of ice and a couple of torn basil leaves. Also worth a try, if you want the pure flavour of Opihr, but not the strength, is a splash of soda water. There are a lot of very ordinary gin's masquerading as premium gins these days. This isn't one of them. It is a delightful find that can often be bought for £18 or less for 70cl. Enjoy it.

Hated it at first
The first time I tried this I hated it. It tasted like curry to me. However I wasn't about to tip it away. I had spent good money after all. I have mixed it with all kinds of tonic, but for me fevertree ginger ale or spiced orange ginger ale works perfectly. I was actually sad when my bottle ended so bought another and now I'm needing a third bottle!. You could say that this has grown on me. It's now one of my favourites.

Bit too much spice for me
I do like gin but this was a bit much for me. I knew it was a spiced gin but was too overpowering for me, with a distinct 'curry' flavour from the mix of spices. I prefer a more subtle blend of flavours but can see how this would appeal to those who like stronger flavours

Wonderful exotically spiced gin, very enjoyable
Nummy nummyA gin with exotic spices, it is a really pleasant experience. The tag has a couple of different recipes to try too.The bottle looks different, with a little wool twist on the neck to supplement the oriental look.Amazon pack the bottles very effectively and the product arrives in perfect condition.Note: An Adult must sign for it and no safe place or neighbours can be substituted seeing as this is expensive booze.

A gin that genuinely tastes distinctly different.
There is a lot of "marketing hype" surrounding gin at the moment with new fancy blends and bottles being introduced every week. Quite frankly, I feel that in lots of cases, many "expensive" gins taste very similar. A decent tonic and "additions" can boost a very ordinary gin and produce a very acceptable drink. In lots of cases, I believe that "The Kings New Clothes" affects people's response to expensive trendy find. HOWEVER, I genuinely believe that Ophir is one gin that tastes genuinely different and distinctive. After spending lots of money trying different expensive gins, and yes, falling for the marketing hype, I have returned to this gin and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has been an expensive education excercise! I will concede that it won't be to everyone's taste but genuinely distinctive. And it is only £18!!

OMG! Just awful!!! I almost threw up! I have never had more disgusting drink in my life. Smells like stinky armpits and I'm not kidding. I kept smelling around me to try and identify what it was. Took me a while to realise that it was my bloody gin!I have never thrown my drink away - this was my first and I hope the last!Even people around me that drunk something else hated it.Never again!!!

This is currently my favourite Gin. I had recently started to drink Gin ...
This is currently my favourite Gin. I had recently started to drink Gin again when trying to cut calories but I was bored with the usual Gordon’s and Bombay varieties. This was on the shelf in Sainsbury’s and I was probably more drawn to the red bottle and the pretty tassel, rather than knowing anything about the product.I have since found it that it contains curry type spices and as a curry addict. (or, the hubby is and has withdrawal symptoms if he does not get at least two curries a week). I found I really liked it. So much so, we have probably go through several bottles by now.Amazon is a great place to buy as I can monitor the price and buy several bottles when the price drops to £15 / £18. It can sometimes be as high as £24 in the supermarket.

Why ID
Love the Gin and the price sold for on Amazon. Means that with Covid I no longer have to go into the supermarket. However, not happy about having to produce ID and driver taken full nam ,DOB and Residential address. GDPR. How do I know my info is being kept secure. ID should only be requested if there is doubt to a persons age. For this reason I will take my chances with Covid and by from the Supermarket.
