Chemtronics Desoldering Braid Outperforms Every Generic I Have Tried
I keep a few rolls of desoldering braid in my electronics workspace and have gone through various off-brand options over the years. When I switched to the Chemtronics 80-3-5 rosin flux braid I noticed the difference immediately. It wicks solder faster and more completely than the generic rolls I had been using, and it does so with noticeably less heat applied to the joint. The thickness and size of this 5-foot roll are well suited for the through-hole and SMD cleanup work I do most often. It is not so wide that it bridges pads and not so narrow that I am making multiple passes to clear a joint. Accuracy in placement is easy because the braid stays where you put it without fraying or curling under the iron tip. The rosin flux built into the braid activates cleanly and leaves the pads in good shape for re-soldering. Where generic braid sometimes requires additional flux or leaves residue that needs extra cleanup, this one handles most joints dry with a single pass. Value for money is strong given how much further a single section of braid goes compared to cheaper alternatives where you burn through more length to get the same result. Durability of the roll itself is good too since the braid stays tightly woven and does not shed strands when you cut it. If you have been settling for off-brand desoldering braid and getting mediocre results, the Chemtronics is worth the price difference. It is one of those consumables where buying the right one actually saves time and frustration.

Works better than Radio Shack desoldering braid.
I was trying to use an old and cheap Radio Shack desoldering ribbon, and it NEVER worked quite right, even when soaked in flux. So I did a little bit of research, and I've seen people swear by this stuff. It turns out that they are 100% correct. This Chemtronics desoldering braid works wonderfully. I highly recommend it. When I run out, I'll definitely order more of this stuff. I didn't measure the length, but going from literally worthless braid to braid that works amazingly, makes me not even care if I got a full 5ft of the stuff right now.

The best I’ve ever used
Used this in a hobby capacity. Expensive for what you get, but works 50x better than any other I’ve purchased in the past 10 years. Wish it was cheaper, but definitely the best I’ve ever used by a long shot. I’m not sure why- it looks like all the cheap braids I’ve bought, but it does work great. When you watch “how to desolder” videos and the braid works I think they must all use this one

Works well in my hands
Works great! Highly recommended by people who do a lot of soldering. Works really well in my hands. Used it to clean up the solder pads in the photo while recapping a classic Mac.

It's good just not as good as it used to be
It works really well but it's not as good as the old stuff. On old braids I had they could be used till both sides were so wet with solder they'd be totally silver. On this it gets spotty and wet

Good MB until the end
It was a good board while it last. I had to change out due these chip set changes companies are doing.

Works well
I bought this to replace cheap “desoldering braid” from AliExpress which didn’t work at all. This stuff works as it’s supposed to - desoldered an area in a minute that I’d been struggling with for hours with the cheap stuff.
