Purchased this hat because I liked it had material off the back to cover ones neck while doing outdoor work and preventing sunburn. The positives...It was well made/stitched, material was a nice weight (not too thin), and most of all great price. However, the sizing is quite poor. I ordered the the L/XL (the only other size option is S/M) because not only is this normally the size I order in other hats, but also because I have a BIG head (LOL). Sometimes I even have to stretch a L/XL a little to fit my big head. Well hat comes, I put it on and it completely falls over my entire head, down over my ears, and half way down my face! I don't know who this hat is made for (perhaps giants?), but it was too big for my BIG head. Did I mentioned I have a BIG head!? I elect to return the hat (simple enough), and get the S/M size figuring maybe these hats just run really big. Couple of days later, I get the S/M hat, and it is too small. Way too small! The jump in size from one hat to the other is staggering. It is a shame, because I really like the hat. This hat (the S/M), rather than return, I gave to my friend who does a lot of gardening, and he loves it! Fits him too cuz he has a small head LOL. In closing, quality: GREAT! Sizing: POOR.

Bought this for my son. He saw this kind of hat in one of his video games, not sure which one but he really liked the flap at the back that protects the neck from sunburn. He's always really hated sunscreen but the combo of dad with red hair and pale skin + mom with pale skin has produced an even whiter kid and he gets sunburned in just a few minutes, so this hat is perfect for him. The brim has pretty good coverage too, it really shades most of the face. As for the size, he has the xlarge, our family has big heads, so be sure to measure your head as this hat comes in different sizes.Somehow the hat ended up smelling like smelly shoes so I tossed it into the wash with all the other clothes on regular cycle, it came out perfect. I dried it, by hanging it off the handlebar of my bicycle.

I’m not expecting too much from such an inexpensive hat, but I’m disappointed in how flimsy and unstructured the hat is. The hat has no shape since it has no interior webbing or other support to give it shape. That said, it will keep the sun off your neck for a cheap price. I bought a cap insert from another vendor to use with this hat to give it some shape, thereby doubling the price. Do a search for “cap crown inserts.” Update: I ended up returning the hat. It has no shape to it whatsoever and looks like a wad of fabric without a separate insert and the insert made the top of the hat too tight on the top of my head. All in all a total fail.

I bought this hat for some in the roofing company I work for. I haven't actually worn it quite yet, the company name is still being put on, but I will give my initial opinion.-Why you DO want a ''foreign legion'' kepi (flap hat)- protects back of neck better than a brim hat, protects the side of the face close to as well, and the front just as well, all with added overhead movement. and the wind doesn't catch it as easy. Perfect for roofers and any one needing to reach over head or Carry or put things on their shoulders frequently, and good for outdoorsmen.-Why you DON'T want a foreign legion kepi- Doesn't look nearly as good as a brim hat or baseball cap, the flap irritates the neck of some wearers.-Why you want THIS hat- heavy weight cloth material, nice classic look, covers ears (not all foreign legion kepis do), convenient place to attach company name in front, crushable, washable.-Why you don't want THIS hat- no size adjustment string or strap, flap does doesn't completely cover neck (but does cover 90-95%), its a little loose (I got the small)

Nice hat for working outside. I use it when I am mowing the grass. The back flap is really great for keeping the sun from burning my neck, it does the job. Only reason I did not give it 4 or 5 stars is for one, the sizing. You cannot really tell what size you need. They only make large and largest and neither one is adjustable.What reason is there for it not to be adjustable ?, why cant they just cut some vents in either side and add a velcro strap that go around the back, over top of the back flap. Then you would have a one size fits all hat. I ended up buying both large and largest and the large fit my head fine. The largest seems to have been made for guys the size of Andre the giant or Hulk Hogan.It is also not the most fashionable looking hat, It sure aint no French Foreign Legion hat. Sacre Bleu ! This one looks more like a WW2 Afrika Korps hat but goofier. A white visor and royal blue cap with white back flap would be more foreign legionish. As well, they could make the flap in the back longer and detachable, so you could wipe your sweat in the sahara like in those old foreign legion movies.Quality is good enough, it survived its first couple of washes in the machine. If you just want a working hat that protects your neck from the sun and makes you look like Erwin Rommel would have if he had to mow the grass, this is the chapeau for you mon amis.

There is not an adjustment method, and the material is quite unyielding (no stretch). As a result, there are likely only two head sizes (one for each of the two options) that this hat would comfortably fit.Through a manual model number lookup on the Rapid Dominance website, I found the following sizing information (for category 107, which is this hat):S/M: 57.5 - 59L/XL: 60 - 62For my 59" head circumference, the small-medium size of this hat is too small for a comfortable or functional fit. The tightness and stiffness of the inner headband feels extra rough on the forehead, and the height at which the hat must sit limits the functionality of both the brim and the cape. Unlike the mannequin head image previews, the cape does not fully cover my neck.The inner construction is quite basic, without features to improve comfort, moisture wicking, or ventilation.

As a commercial fisherman I could have done with one of these on deck, but now being retired I find this garment invaluable doing jobs outside, especially in the hot weather we have been experiencing recently.

Brilliant in the summer

I ordered size L/XL. Should have ordered S/M. My head measures 23" around and this hat is quite loose on my head. It would better fit a head with a diameter of 26"-28". It appears to be of high quality with a long neck covering. The material is heavier than I expected but will likely last longer than one made of a lighter material and should withstand numerous washings. Overall I recommend this item. Just be sure to order the right size.

Bought two of these for my husband, he loves it. He was wearing one at a customers, the client was so impressed with the hat we ended up giving the other one to him.. now I have to order another one for my husband. The quality and fit is great. Now when he works in the hot sun he won't come home with a sunburnt head or neck.
