I'm sorry.. didn't see the value in the book like others did.
I've read a lot of business books ranging from strategy, pricing, marketing, etc. I liked the concept of the study of profits BUT I didn't see the value in this book. The book is dated, the companies it uses as examples are rather disjointed, and the applicability is suspect. Sorry, time is valuable and investing your time in this book is tough to justify.

DO NOT WEAR THIS BOOK IN PUBLIC
Why not - it is so thin that you will be arrested for indecent exposure. The core information is very good - but that's chapters one and two - the rest is the same stuff repacked, reheated, reworked, repeated and the remainder of the book can be dispensed with. There is significant value in the core logic and the book is probably worth that much. But do not take this on a long flight unless you want to see the movie several times as the book will not sustain you for more tham 30 minutes.

Great business / management book
I'm a little bit biased as I worked for Oliver Wyman in the past. However this is a fantastic book by Adrian Slywotzky

Good way to understand business models
Excellent overview of different business models. Adrian has a great way of categorizing why different models work in different situations.

Interesting...but dated
Profit Zone was thought provoking but all of the example are from the 90's or earlier causing me to question the validity of some of those models today. Additionally I felt like the author hand picked only 1 or 2 examples for each model and lacked broad-based evidence to show that each of these models were replicable templates.

A MUST HAVE!!
EXCELLENT BOOK! One of thee best business books. The book is well structured. All the strategic business models are well detailed with real world applications. Clearly illustrates how the most formidable business gurus have used various strategy models to migrate to profitability and isolate competitors. You will go into the realm of overpowering companies such as Microsoft, Intel, Coca Cola, to name a few. When you have a book that is highlighted and filled with scribbled notes in almost every page than you know you have a winner. Can hardly wait for the next book by these two great authors.

Be sure that if you don't like this book, it's not because of the bad contents. Remarkable book, must read.

Great handbook and easy to digest
Michael Porter explained what to do regarding strategy. Adrian truly explained how to do it. His models work great when you integrate that with Lean Product Development and Lean Six Sigma.Great book.

Strategic Impact on the Bottom line
Just brilliant !! The knowledge is very relevant in the current context and provides enough insight for decoding different strategic scenarios and it's ultimate impact on the bottom line. One should also read The art of profitability to add to one's Repertoire of knowledge.
