These are an inexpensive way into pastels, great coverage and vivid colours and highly economic. A word of warning that the do make quite a mess though!

I learnt to merge and hatch colours but mixing on suitable paper to acquire required colour produced thick loose pastels on page which could blow away or fall off. I found fixing essential. Practical Experience is necessary

These are a nice budget chalk pastel option for beginners or kids. The colour range is great, especially for the price, and they blend fairly nicely. Occasionally one will feel a little gritty, but nothing major. Like all chalk pastels, they're messy to use - that's unavoidable - but they do set nicely with a fixative spray and are easy to wash off hands etc. You can also remove unwanted smudges with a pencil eraser if need be.They're quite chunky and rectangular rather than round, but easy to shape with a knife if you want a sharper or rounder point.
