QoR Artist Watercolors, Quinacridone Violet, 11 ml Tube

Excellent color, Very deep and Vibrant

First time using a QoR watercolor. This is a very deep beautiful blue. So far, so good.

My first attempt at this review.- "I am very disappointed in this watercolor. I generally love QOR Watercolors. I have the high chroma set, and the earth colors, and all of those have performed beautifully. This color, on the other hand, contained way more additives then it did color. The paint would not build up on the page or lay down evenly, and it reminded me of food color mixed with paint. Cobalt violet is an expensive color which is known to be intense and bright. This was neither. I am having trouble believing Qor made this substandard paint. I keep wondering if it is some sort of fake product. Very disappointing." Thanks to exchanging emails with their customer rep who was very helpful and patient, I have since learned (and confirmed for myself) that ALL cobalt violets have a somewhat different pigment to binder ratio then other paints (less pigment) and the Qor version is quite typical of the color. QOR (Golden Paints) are a great, worker owned USA brand.

This review applies not only to this color, but to Qor watercolor paints in general. I am very happy with the pigmentation and the way the paints handle. I do recommend buying the individual tubes rather than the sets with smaller tubes for the following reasons. First, the smaller tubes gushed paint as I opened them, so that I had to spend time cleaning the caps and threading to keep the tubes usable after closing. Second, the sets include colors that are not LF1, and lightfastness matters in watercolors. The thinner the wash, the less lightfast any pigment will become.

I am looking forward to adding this color to my extensive collection of watercolors. This will be my first Qor paint and I am very excited to try it since they have such a wonderful following and reputation.

Great color for outdoor painting. Too bad the pigment is being discontinued. Good bye m graham rust. Good bye Daniel smith, good bye great glorious colors. It sickens me that artists are limited by the whims of car manufacturers. The pigments are out there. You charge enough for these paints, by God we should be able to have them.

As a watercolor artist, this is my preferred brand!! It’s vibrant!

QOR watercolors are so vibrant and have such depth.This is one of my favorite colors that they make.
