How to Betray a Dragon's Hero
I**T
Penultimate Climax
As always, the How to Train Your Dragon series offers energetic storytelling by the renowned David Tennant, and his services are once again put to great use telling this, the second-to-last tale of the series. Things are dark before dawn, here, and without spoiling anything there are big events brewing within the digital bindings of this spoken tome. If you've read/listened to the series this far, I hardly need to tell you to keep going, but by no means skip this one over! It adds important context to the ultimate end of the young Hiccup's journey, and is as much a delight as ever. Savor it.

Dragons!
Just awesome! Impeccable writing? Check. Humour? Check. Good plot with everything coming together at the end even though not always in the favour of the characters? Check.I like how there is nothing that makes you think: "Hey! That couldn't happen to Y because then X would just swoop in and do this or that." You know what I mean?Instead everything that is laid out at the beginning fits with everything else in the end, like: "No, X had to go to that other place in order to that thing that let to the incident that shaped the circumstances for Y. Making it completely natural that Y gets out of a certain predicament with the help of this and that". This is not a weird retelling of events from the book. I am just trying to explain myself and doing a horrible job at it. :S :PSome spoilers ahoy!In addition to being awesome, this book also tries to teach us/kids that people are usually bad for a reason and that they can be good if given the chance, and it does a wonderful job of it, if somewhat sad. I never thought I would cheer for Snotlout. And feel so sorry for him. And MISS him, even.I can really recommend this book, along with all the others in the series, of course.

Fun, funny and just quirky enough for great imaginations
My 3rd grade son was so excited to get this next installment. COVID is rough on the little ones especially without libraries. Great condition. Funny illustrations. Thank you for sending so quickly

Timing is everything.
I am not very happy that lately a few of my packages have been arriving later than I was told they would come but I am glad to have this book all the same.I'm only ready the first few chapters and already that has me hooked for more. It makes me sad to know there is only one last book left before the series comes to an end but I am happy to have been through the ride and discovering such a fun and heartwarming book series. If it weren't for these books we wouldn't even have the fantastic film series DreamWorks has been making so thanks to Cressdia Cowell (and Hiccup) for giving us the grand adventures both on paper and on the silver screen.

ATTENTION EVERY CHILD AND EVERY ADULT, WELCOME TO THE BEST SERIES EVER!
My 10 year old son and I LOVE this series! I can honestly say that in all my years of reading and reviewing hundreds of books, this series is in my all time favorites. Rarely do I come across adult books, that even begin to compare to character development and story lines that these books do! Cressida Cowell, I know that you are writting the last book in the series right now, but please come out with more book quickly! I live for the days when your books are released and I am so sad once I am done, knowing I will have to wait to experience such splendor again.

Love this series!!!
Really great series that has gotten better with each book!! I love reading these even though I use my nephew as an excuse to read them. He loves the dragons and I love the story line. Nothing like the movies but still really great if not better than the movies. Looking forward to more.

good read
my sons and i have been reading the series for a couple years and was trying to reserve a copy from local library and couldnt even find it in the system... then i found it on amazon for a good price so i ordered it. it is wonderful how soon after release we got it. this story is a much scarier story of Hicups misadventures but is still an awsome story and the quality of the book matched that of the ones i borrow from the library.

It is a great set for kids in elementary
My daughter and I are reading through all the How to train your dragon books. It is a great set for kids in elementary. we started reading these when she was 7. I assigned her about 15 pages a day to read. We are slowly making our way to the last book.

Outstanding next chapter in the saga of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III
We were really looking forward to this instalment as book 9 ended on a bit of a cliff hanger. This book picks up and continues to take us on the roller coaster of emotions as we plummet head long to the final chapter in Hiccups memoirs. The book is well paced to keep younger readers hooked and the adventure comes thick and fast. The writer has built a really beautiful mix of characters through out the series and the situations that develop allow the reader to explore some complex themes. The redemption of a lost soul in this volume is both moving and exceptionally well written. In many ways the reader is left with a charming dilemma, the need to read on while realising that the end is neigh. My son and I can't for the next book, but it will be the last. For Thors sake, what will we do then?

My son reports the Kindle version omits illustrations
The thing that is not made clear, and my son really dislikes, about the Kindle version of these books is that they omit the illustrations! This is a major part of these books, and a really huge item to omit! Frankly given they are mono illustrations (i.e. black and white) it makes zero sense to omit them. Really poor given they cost near as much as the paperback.

Dragon wars, betrayal and other good stuff
Readers beware! Hiccups journey continues to get darker, dealing with more mature issues such as betrayal, acceptance and redemption. The magic that we have come to expect from Cressida Cowell is still there though, and the pace never lets up throughout the entire book. She also tells us, in absolute terms, that the next book will be the last one.All of the characters that we have come to know and love (or hate) over the past 10 books are here. The plot pushes forward with the inevitable force of a steam train and the portents for the ending are not optimitic. Please Cressida, don't keep us waiting too long for the final book!

Great story for kkds
The kids absolutely love this series. It’s a decent story with the underlying themes of the importance of friendship and what true bravery really means.
