Hayward DEX2422Z2 Metal Reinforced Filter Seal Replacement for Select Hayward Filters

It is more costly being OEM but didn’t want to take a chance on lower quality Chinese replacements.

Used to replace my original and it sealed up good with a good amount of lube to keep the water in.

Like the headline says - it’s does what it’s designed to do and that’s to prevent leakage at the separation point of the Hayward pool cartridge container.

For those of you who are considering purchasing the aftermarket brand, save your money it's much thicker then the original hayward product and the metal insert is missing. Just an FYI: During the installation process , I did not use any lubrication as suggested by hayward and the filter tank is not leaking. Installed 10/20 to soon to rate the longevity of the product will update at a later date.

Although this was the specified replacement seal for my Hayward DE4820 filter, it was a slightly different size from the original seal, and my experience was quite different from that of another reviewer. The overall diameter of the new seal was a bit larger than the previous one and the cross sectional body was a bit smaller. Nonetheless, I carefully positioned it (with lubrication) evenly around the perimeter of the container seal area so it had a small, but consistent gap all around. I also tightened it carefully, but it crinkled in one place during tightening and then leaked badly. Replaced it with the old seal and eliminated the leakage problem. However, I was contacted by Hayward customer service as a response to my initial Amazon review. They revealed the seal and clamp system had been redesigned, and a new clamp was needed to work with the new seal I obtained. Because the part numbers for my filter did not indicate a change in the design, they provided both a new seal and a new clamp to work with it at no additional cost. Problem resolved because Hayward actually did want to provide good customer service, but buyers need to be aware of the changes when ordering for an older filter unit -- even though the model and part numbers may be unchanged.

NEVER buy the cheap o-ring for your Hayward filter case. While this ring cost me twice what the aftermarket (non-metal reinforced) did, this should last much longer than the 6 months I got out of the cheapie (actually, it started leaking after just 4 months).

Perfect fit and worked on my Hayward de4820. Just clean both sides of the filter out on the o-ring no lube at all and tighten down the clamp. No leaks and it is a Hayward part. Great price and fast shipping. Would definitely buy again.

what can I say? It is a manufacturers part to replace a manufacturers part.

This o-ring worked fine in my Hayward c5025 filter. I was initially worried because it is different than the original o-ring that came with my filter ( soft rubber ring compared to stiff metal reinforced ring). Apparently this change was made some time after 2007.

This is the part I needed to get my pool up and running again. It came super fast and was high quality and not a cheap knockoff. It was the perfect size as advertised. Thanks!
