Life changing
I’m only a third of the way in and I already find this book to be one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. The prompts truly did help me reflect and are helping me understand myself better. Now I want to start gifting this to all of my loved ones. It is not a book you’ll complete quickly though, be prepared to take your time with multiple sittings.

Helpful
It includes helpful prompts to dig into the experiences that lead you to call "yourself". It's probably better if you have professional help to guide through the prompts and analyze ways forward

Know thyself!! Easier said than done, but this book WILL help.
I love de Botton. I love the School of Life. This is a great book for anyone who takes the important process of knowing themselves better seriously. Well crafted. The book simply starts into questions designed to get you thinking about what might have gone into making you and uncovering what your real values are. It's therapy in a book. You won't find any advice in here, just questions. Perfect for the task!!!

Very homogeneous perspectives
I was very excited about the school of life works but can’t help but notice its sometimes singular perspective. At the very beginning of this book, it already asks questions that are exclusive like what was your father like as a teenager? I have no idea, my mom was a single parent. How did my parents get on, the book asks. Again, my mom was a single parent. I understand the book can’t accommodate everyone but there’s this underlying vibe of a homogenous perspective. Even in How to Think Strategically, they quote philosophers, many of them European. What about the rest of the world? I like what they’re doing but their works are called the school of life and life is all encompassing and diverse. It feel like most of this is written by white people who see the world as mostly white.

Ordered as a gift arrived covered in sticky residue
Ordered as a gift. Arrived dirty and covered in sticky black particulate residue. So disappointed.
