Genius
Very simple to use and effective. I used to push an offcut of wall insulation up the flue and it was dirty and inconvenient. This works great and is so simple it’s genius. If you need to block a flue then just buy this.

Sometimes you just have to pay for quality
Let's just deal with the elephant in the room first - this thing seems stupid expensive for what it is. I mean, 50 bucks for a circle of fabric with a cheap plastic handle, wth?But I will say this: it works, bigtime, and for a tiny fraction of the cost of getting a chimney repairman to try to replace a leaky damper. The fabric circle is really a super-heavy-duty, all natural, woven sort of felt from, they claim, special sheep with really dense wool. I can't speak to that but I'll admit that I've never seen anything quite like it.Despite its thickness and solidity, though, it was not terribly difficult to trim up with heavy shears. Note: DO NOT attempt to make an exact fit! You want it to be a little big, so it'll squish into the flue and stay there from friction.I also had to cut a perpendicular slit to allow the damper control rod to pass through. This, too, was no big deal. And the result? Not only did all chimney drafts immediately cease, but the family noted a great improvement in allergies! Maybe pollen was blowing down the chimney along with the cold air? Or maybe they're allergic to whatever soot or ash the draft carried with it?Whatever - the cost of this gadget will pay for itself with a few less bottles of allergy meds, to say nothing of the cost of however much heat was vanishing up the flue. You do have to be a bit handy, detail-oriented, and flexible to crawl around upside down in your fireplace. Obviously make sure the fire is long out, and the fireplace is as clean as you can reasonably get it first. You're still going to get a bit dirty but it shouldn't be Dickensian. The results will be worth it.

Expensive for what it is, but does the job
The concept here is simple enough - open the damper and stuff this nice insulated wool to stop the cold winter drafts. The sheep wool feels like great quality and it actually does make a significant difference in reducing the draft, but man $45 for some insulation on a stick is a tough pill to swallow.Unfortunately I couldn't find any alternative that looked comparable in the construction, so I suppose you get what you pay for, and in the grand scheme of things this lets me save money from my heating bill on a monthly basis so it probably pays for itself. Still though I feel like I had to do some mental gymnastics to justify the purchase.

Amazing support!
I ordered the 8-9” flueblocker and tried to trim it to fit. Unfortunately I cut too much off and it no longer made a tight fit. I contacted the seller and with a few simple questions they figured out exactly what I needed. They custom cut a new one for me and shipped the replacement out to me. I just installed the replacement and it fits perfectly and works great!I highly recommend reaching out to the seller before ordering if you have any doubt about what to order. They will definitely make it work right for you. Highly recommend.

Works but it'll take years to recoup the cost.
It does block up alot of the gaps in the flue but not 100%. If it saves me $5 per year in heating oil I'll be lucky and at that rate it's a decade for return on investment. I guess the selling point is it's less drafty by the fireplace. Don't buy it if you're thinking it's going to save you huge $$ because it probably won't. Takes me about 2 minutes to get it in right each time which isn't super convenient, but not a deal breaker.

Stopped my chimney draft completely.
I had a fireplace that had a terrible draft. I bought a size that was a little bigger than the opening in my chimney, but it was easy to trim down to size with a pair of scissors.TIP1 : If you have to trim it down, only trim off half as much as you think you need at a time, otherwise you could trim too much and end up with it being too small.TIP 2: You want it to be slightly bigger than your chimney flue opening so it will fit really snug. I used a paint stick and nudged mine into place.TIP 3: Remember to remove your Flueblocker before starting a fire.

Trim trim cha-roo!
In case you were curious, this is the same product as the ‘Chimney Sheep’ sold in the UK - this is their American branding - that’s important because they’ve dumbed down the sizing… I bought the ‘for 10 inch flue’ which means that the actual product is 12 in diameter (they mention this is the description too and they mean it) however, on the UK site they explain that the Chimney Sheep is supposed to be about 1 inch larger than your flue, for us here in the states we aren’t trusted with actual measurements. My flue is 10 inches, and the 12 inches of Chimney Sheep was wayy to large. Trimming of about 1/2 inch around made the difference for me between a mess and a good fit. Also, use tin snips to trim this thing, an inch of felted sheep’s wool is a bear to cut.

Ottimo
