Planet + 100% Compostable PLA Clear Cold Cup, 9-Ounce, 1000-Count Case

Who doesn't like the idea of a compostable drinking glass? I especially like that this glass is mostly clear to let the beauty of the drink show. I'd be happier if the green stripe and writing were much more subtle (smaller) but that's not a deal breaker.The reason I don't like these cold cups is because they have some serious design flaws. On a warm day at a picnic the glasses started sticking together. I mean seriously sticking together. Glasses that were left in the van melted to the point that they were unusable. It was wasn't the hottest day of the year in Michigan and I really don't think a traditional plastic glass would do that. Knowing this, I suppose you could avoid having these glasses in a hot van or on a picnic table in the sun and all would be well. However the other problem is that since they are narrow at the bottom and substantially wider at the top, they tip easily. A glass should hold your beverage until you drink it . . .not spill it on the table! Not only do I have to avoid using these on a warm day, I can't use them with children and really don't feel confident using them at all. Bummer I bought such a large quantity. I hope this review helps you make a well-informed decision.

Last year, I purchased a commercial snow cone machine for a large weekend reunion and the gourmet snow cones I served were a big hit with both kids and grownups alike. Along with the typical cherry, grape, and other kid flavors, I also offered Torani syrups in various sophisticated flavors like pomegranate, blood orange, huckleberry, and others.These attractive cups are just the right size for a nice portion of shaved ice and the flared top works well for a nice rounded "ball" of ice on top. The clear cups also show off the bright colors of the syrup well, and the flat bottoms make it easy to prepare lots of them in advance, rather than the conventional cone-shaped paper cups which require a special rack to stand them upright.I received lots of compliments on these -- both from the appearance and also the compostible content of the cup. It made enjoying a summer treat even more satisfying. I'm on my second order of these and will keep them on hand for upcoming events again this summer.

Ordered these prior to our events to serve wine. Great for use, and then we compost everything, including what we didn't use, afterward. Note that they don't store all that well if they are in a place that is warmer...the compostable PLA will bend over time. You are best buying fresh and composting afterward.

These cups are fantastic for an eco nerd. I don't love the design, but I do like that it indicates to my customers that they are compostable. I have events regularly but don't have an actual bar, and these eliminate the guilt of throwing away so many disposable cups. You can't really put a price on that.

These are from genetically modified corn. That doesn't help us either. Powerful profit driven companies that are medeling with genetic code they don't fully understand yet is not the solution either. How much oil is going into growing this corn then processing it anyway?

Good size cups.

It has a nice texture. It looks clean, but interesting, plenty strong. The curved lip is a nice design feature.

These cups are perfect for serving 2-3 scoops of ice cream but take care to not allow them into direct sunlight or temperatures over 100 (even in the shade) or you will have a crumpled, useless stack of compostable containers on your hands. We learned this the hard way!
