Where Stones Speak: Historical Trails in Mehrauli, the First City of Delhi

I was born in New Delhi. All I knew was Old Delhi and New Delhi. Then I started to learn that the Old Delhi - Shajahanbad is not really "Old Delhi". There have been seven or more old cities which were vanished and rebuilt by various dynasties--over time. I wish I had read Rana Safvi's book when I lived or visited Delhi (Now I am overseas). I have been to Mehrauli many times including when I was a teenager. But, I never knew what I know now. Thanks Ranaji for your knowledge, effort and passion--to preserve and share. I am grateful. Next time I visit Delhi, I plan to carry this book in my hands.

Ein gutes Werk über eine oft nicht beachtete und nicht bereiste Ecke von Delhi. Nach Lektüre ist klar, daß man beim nächsten Mal dahin muß. Es erschließt ein bis dahin unbekanntes Kapitel der Hauptstadt umfangreich. Leider ist die Machart des kleinen Bändchens billig, und die Aufnahmen sind größtenteils schwarz-weiß und schlecht gedruckt, wie Photokopie. Als Buch ist es für Bibliophile ziemlicher Substandard, daher der drastische Abzug.

Wonderful book! Very well-written with lots of historical information along with details of monuments in Delhi. Enjoyed reading the book as a very interesting record of Delhi's history.I was also happy with the delivery of the book before the scheduled date.
