Best utility knife ever
I’ve own a home repair business for almost 30 years, used countless types of utility knives, & this one is the Cadillac for them all. They stopped making them because they saw how well they held up. Takes a little getting used to, opening & closing the blade, but the feel, & performance is unmatched. Try cutting drywall all day, & get back to me…

For me the greatest
I have had my original FatMax for a couple decades now. I panic when I can't find it. So when I found these on Amazon I bought 2 just to have as a backup. As a contractor this is a utility knife that goes beyond any other utility knife. I tend to use it with as much force as I can apply and there is no issue other than the blade is the weak point. I have likely put hundreds of blades through this knife and the fit and action is the same as when new. Not sure why these are not sold in the US since mine came from Australia! I will say that it is not for everyone. When people ask for a knife and I hand them this they do a double take like... what is this beast!

Best knife, shipping horrible
I ordered 3, and someone stole 1. Package was stamped that USPS received it opened. They claim to have resealed it, and sent the remaining 2 to me. I understand why someone would steal it, but not sure why only 1. It's the best knife for use in my construction business.

Purchased one of these for my hubby for little household chores, and I liked it so much I bought a second one for myself! Comfortable in the hand, sturdy, and easy to change the blades. A Definite good-buy.

Very cool/ very capable
K-narly k-nive dude! The blade tightens securely. Easy to change blade. Better than the other Stanley knife w/ the rubber grip. Overall workmanship a tad sketchy. We'll see if it lasts for years.

The best Stanley knife I have ever had
I bought this to replace my beloved 30-year old original that dropped out of my pocket somewhere. I chose the Fatmax on the basis that it is bigger and therefore I am likely to notice if a drop it. I carried my old knife with me everywhere on my plot and used it for everything needing a sharp blade. After a few weeks of use I rapidly came to prefer the Fatmax to my old knife for the following reasons.1) Blade is much easier to replace, don't need a screwdriver.2) The blade is totally secure in the nose when extended - doesn't wobble about at all.3) Generous provision of spare blades, held securely by a spring so don't rattle.4) The strong aluminium casing swivels to allow blade change, doesn't separate.5) The ergonomic design of the casing gives more precise control over cuts and is very comfortable to hold.I noticed that some people complained that the blade retractor was very stiff to use. This is because the rotating release has to be turned a couple of notches to secure and release the blade. So, to extend the blade for use, turn the gold release wheel a couple of clicks anticlockwise, push the blade to whatever cutting position you want using the button on top of the knife, then turn the release clockwise to lock the blade securely in position. To lock the blade safely inside the handle, turn the release anticlockwise a couple of clicks, use the button on top of the knife to fully retract the blade, then lock the blade safely away by turning the release clockwise. Admittedly this involves more actions than the original knife, but these only take a second or two once you are used to it, and the payback is that the knife is much safer to use and carry because the blade is locked securely in place when extended for use or retracted for carrying. My only slight quibble is that the ergonomic design means that the knife is big, but that makes it more comfortable and easier to use than the original design.
