the freshest vanilla pods i have seen in my life - gives a amazing fresh taste!
I am a huge fan of cooking custard, creme anglais, panna cotta, creme brulee - i cant get enough of making them and more importantly eating them!!!i gave up on vanilla essense about 20 years ago, extract about 10 and have been using dried pods since then....i didnt think you could get a more smooth, fresh intense flavour - these proved me wrong!!!They are still moist and in a resealable bag - i have used them for a dinner party creme brulee - even when cutting them the smell is divine!!! they where amazing - today i have ventured into the realms of ice-cream and oh my word i am hooked! i will be 20 stone in a couple of weeks but hey-ho!highly recommended for chefs or just fans of desserts like me!!

Organic vanilla pods
Good quality vanilla pods arrived packed in sealed bag. I needed it to make vanilla sugar for my cakes as I found that 16g of vanilla sugar bag is pretty expensive per amount of it.. Having home made vanilla sugar gives me control of how much sugar I want to use and how much of vanilla pod. I cut open 2 pods long way and scrubbed off the seeds. Placed a glass of sugar in jar and put seeds in it. I did shake the jar well for a minute or two, to make sure the seeds split apart and mix with sugar properly. The vanilla scent is strong, specific, it is slightly different than the vanilla scent I know from shop bought vanilla sugar. I know that shop bought vanilla sugar is modified and doest taste as exactly as pure vanilla. Shame to say that this is my first vanilla pods I ever had so cant compare it to other vanilla pods. Husband said that this is the original scent of vanilla and it is the right thing. When I bake a cake using homemade vanilla sugar I will be able to say how the taste came out.. For now I wait few more days until the vanilla scent penetrates the sugar in jar and then I will make cake. Each vanilla pod is slightly sticky/wet-ish, leaving fingers little brown after touching. So far I used couple of pods and the remaining 3 I left in sealed bag to stay fresh. Best before date is 1 year and 5 months upfront so not to bad, plenty time to use it.Price wise 5 pods for £20 gives £4 each. I've seen in supermarket 2 pods for £6 but I didnt check were they organic or not. I think Senes Vanilla Pods are reasonably priced because pods are organic, free from GMO and other bad substances. I would recommend it.

Good quality and wonderful flavour
I love vanilla and usually use vanilla essence but have heard so much about the pods themselves over the years I really fancied giving them a go and I wasn't disappointed with these. These pods are well packaged and sealed to ensure freshness and the wonderful smell when opening the packet showed how fresh they are.The pods contain lots of beans and you need a tiny amount to get the most gorgeous vanilla flavour. So far I have made ice cream and custard using these and they gave the most amazing flavour. So much better than using essence. I am hooked on these now and am turning my hand to vanilla sugar at the moment. The pods are organic and of a good size. They are quite pricey, but this reflects their good quality and a must for anyone who loves authentic vanilla flavouring. I certainly won't go back to using essence after this.

Full of flavour
These vanilla bean pods came well protected in a resealable bag, so they will be fresh for a longer period of time, in addition to having 18 months expiration date. The beans are thin, dry and almost all of them were few millimetres shy of 16 cm in length. Their smell is sweet and is in line how proper vanilla should smell like. Usually, vanilla sugar, extract or bean paste have a different vanilla scent because they have been processed, so they lose their potency.I am very pleased with the quality of these vanilla pods since they are 100% organic, the beans are coming from Madagascar, a famous region for its quality vanilla, and the taste is very distinct and strong. Usually, whenever your are baking or making custards, you should cut the bean pods in half and scrape the seeds off, you then cook the seeds and/or the pods with the custard to get that extra flavour, after cooking you can throw away the bean pods or you can use them otherwise.Overall, I have no complaints about these vanilla pods, and I would definitely recommend them if you are in the budget for some high-quality organic vanilla flavour.

Subtler than using vanilla extract, but good flavour and excellent, if expensive, quality.
At close to a fiver a bean, these are priced as a premium product and whilst the bean quality is excellent - slightly moist, plump, full of soft and gooey seeds - these are a little overpriced. I used about half a bean in bowl of pancake batter, scraping the seeds out and soaking the husk in cold milk to use in the mix, and the flavour was subtle and tasted very natural. There wasn't the scent that you get from vanilla extract but you could smell fresh vanilla.Packaging is excellent - hermetically sealed bag with a press fastening that should keep the pods in perfect condition for ages. They have a use-by date of 12/2011 and it'll be interesting to see if they are as pungent then as now.

Soft and squidgy and gorgeous!
First of all I need to tell you that I did not purchase this item but it was sent to me by Amazon in return for an unbiased and honest review. The first thing that hits you when you open the bag (with handy seal) is the powerful aroma, wonderful. These vanilla pods are squidgy and plump, no flavour enhancers or additives - completely natural and organic.16g in weight - 5 pods 13-16 cm long.A great quality product from Madagascar, can’t recommend highly enough.

Quality pods
Vanilla is one of my favourite flavours, so I use it often in baking and making ice cream. And you really can tell the difference between a vanilla extract and vanilla pods. These vanilla pods are not the cheapest on the market, but they are quite large. They come in a resealable pouch so they'll stay fresh for a good while. They are organic too.I made vanilla ice cream with one of these pods - and I have to say the vanilla flavour shone through. If you love vanilla and a true vanilla flavour is important to you, then it's worth paying the price for these pods.
