Vari Task Chair

Just received this chair, so it's an "initial quality" review. For reference, I'm a 6'1" (185 cm) 190 lb (86 kg) guy. (1) The base is made of plastic -- it's hard to tell from the pictures. The casters are also plastic, fairly flimsy looking. I'm already considering replacing them with "roller blade" type casters. Works fine on a chairmat, I don't have carpet to try it on. Rolls fine on hardwood / mat under full weight. (2) The arms do not adjust outward. They fit my width fine, but this may be a problem for some of you. The photographs suggest hard plastic arm-rests, but they're made of padded material, similar to what you might find in an automobile arm-rest. (3) The seat height is quite adjustable. Most up-down adjustments on chairs are "binary" or don't go high enough, but this one is continuously adjustable from almost absurdly low to almost comically high (my feet barely touch the floor. (4) The seat cushion is front-back adjustable, allowing you to get your butt in the right spot.. The cushion itself is firm but appropriately yielding. It's covered with a mesh fabric that feels comfortable against bare skin (not itchy or slick). (5) The mesh back material doesn't feel extraordinarily sturdy -- The material reminds me of privacy screen door material, it's flexible -- time will tell whether or not this holds up. (6) Lumbar support is "kind of" there. It's not adjustable in any way, you're reliant on the curvature of the chair back I've only sat in it for about 20 minutes now -- so far so good. I may end up using a secondary lumbar support thing. (7) The photos seemed to suggest (to me) that the back raises separately from the chair -- it does not. That picture is just the whole chair moving up and down. Overall not a bad purchase for initial quality. I'll review again if something changes.

Like many others, I'm now spending much more time working at home. Unlike many others, I don't like to assemble things. But I did want a comfortable office chair that would be adjustable and provide lumbar support. I was prepared to spend up to $300; this seems to be what one must spend for an adjustable chair of high quality. I considered buying an Aeron or Steelcase , and might have bought one refurbished, but I wasn't going to buy one new for two or three times more. Other than its very quick assembly, there are two things I particularly like about the Vari chair: First, this chair has ample padding in the seat; even more expensive chairs sometimes lack that. Second, it's made by a company known for its standing desks that stands behind its products. They were easy to reach and answered my questions by phone before I purchased. The one thing I wish the chair had is more padding on the armrests. But they are adjustable and are made of soft plastic. All in all, I'm very happy with this chair.

I started working from home recently with the Covid-19 pandemic and wanted a comfortable, adjustable chair that wasn't $1000+. After several weeks of intensive searching (and a horrible, cheap chair that was a lesson to myself) I took a chance on this Vari Task Chair. I was familiar with the brand because of their stand-up desk product but wasn't aware they made chairs. Overall I have to say this task chair is wonderful. It came in a giant box but had little to no assembly required - I just drop the seat on the legs and it's done. What makes this so comfortable is the ability to adjust arms, seat, height and recline features. The back is forgiving but firm enough to support me while I work. The seat is well cushioned and I don't feel any beams through the fabric. I was hoping to adjust the tilt of the seat but I can at least adjust the seat depth and that at least makes sitting in the chair for hours comfortable. Overall, very happy and suggesting this to my coworkers. It's nothing special to look at but for the price it's a good work chair.

This chair is so uncomfortable, I have back issues, so that may contribute to my discomfort, but I had to buy both a seat and back pillow in order to sit in it for a full day. I regret spending so much on this chair.

The VARI Task Chair, in my opinion, did not hold up to my expectations. However, the customer service provided by VARI is far beyond standard / satisfactory of any interaction of customer service I have dealt with. A customer Service Rep named Nate actually listened to all the things I did not like about the chair and assisted me tremendously with the return. Cudos to VARI's customer service (You all are AWESOME!!!!!)😁😁😁👍👍👌👌. Now on to the chair. I am classified as big and tall (6ft 250lbs) and being in front of a computer (work/school / etc.) for a considerable amount of time (8hrs +) takes a toll on the entire body. The task chair lacks adequate cushioning to support glutes and hamstrings. The material is nice but doesn't hold up after 30 minutes. The seat can also be a little wider (possibly 23" to 25"); The lower back support is marginal and lacks the push to maintain support. However, the ergonomics are inspiring but requires tweaking. The support should increase to 400lbs or more for the construction of more durable heavy-duty components. It is not a bad chair, just not a chair for me. I mentioned to the customer service rep (Nate) VARI should invest in a big and tall or large and tall chair that can adequately support those of larger stature. I understand the reasoning of the design and materials but I would gladly pay VARI more for a chair that addresses the concerns of big and tall people and would volunteer to provide input if needed. Overall, Terrific company, Good products, Excellent customer service, the chair is not particularly designed for long sitting periods but does not detract from the chair being useful. I would encourage VARI to build a chair for larger individuals who require support above the typical. I really wanted to like this chair but it just did not fulfill my needs.🤔🤔🤨🤨🙁🙁

Very comfortable chair. It rivals chairs that are over $1000 and the build quality is amazing. Their customer service is amazing and they honour their warranty.
