You might seriously want to try the K 690 for that, for what you're talking about. It has an adjustable pickup pattern. So you can adjust it according to how you and your husband want to sit in your space. For example you can set it to bidirectional, if you can sit on opposite sides of the microphone, or stereo if you want to sit next to each other, or on the left and right side of the mic. I don't know why the good people at the Fifine store didn't mention this option to you. Yes, the Fifine K690 is a little more expensive compared to its brothers and sisters, but it is inexpensive when compared to its comparable competitors, & I think it is superior to most of those. Not to mention that Fifine customer service is excellent, especially as compared to their competition like blue yeti. :-)
