Hybrid Cooling Vest

110 texas heat - stand still i35 traffic for over an hour - full perkev jeans, boots, canyon leather jacket, gauntlet leather gloves, helmet - comfortable

on the whole i am satisfied with this product.i would recommend getting a smaller size. it stretches and it works a lot better if it is tight against your skin. i am 182cm and 90kg. the large fit me ok, but it was just barely long enough and a little loose.i purchased it with phase-change inserts, which are nice for walking around in a little heat. but i have switched to using regular ice when running. if it is not too humid i just fill it with ice cubes, otherwise i use ice packs. if i am running longer than an hour, i run out of one and use the other. on even longer runs, i have found that those long plastic tubes filed with sugary water actually work really well, although sometimes they leak.

Where I live, evaporative cooling does not work, actually makes things worse due to the high humidity. When I ordered, I expected phase change gel similar to the phase change gel in the pet cooling mats, It is not. The cooling packs are no more than ice packs, which are technically "phase change" as they change from solid ice to liquid.as for size order 1-2 sizes above your normal T-shirt size. I wear a 2x shirt and the vest fits like an XL.Had I known the "phase change" packs were no more than ice packs, I would have ordered one of the cheaper (and more accurately described) ice pack only vests

The vest is very well made and fits as described in the size chart. I ended up returning the vest as it is heavy and I have balance troubles and this only increased the wobbles. Seems like this vest would be helpful for managing summer heat for those heat intolerant. Seller, Cool Down, was very responsive during the return process. They do charge a restocking fee so you might want to consider that if you are uncertain about sizing.

It weighs about 10lbs when you have the ice packs in it and soak it in water.It fits well but doesn't flow enough air to wear for riding motocross.Best used for when you come back from riding and want to cool off.The zipper enclosure is nice and fast.The seams aren't very good, you definitely have to wear something under it. Uncomfortable against bare skin.The ice packs aren't ice cold even when frozen. They're of a different liquid. Which is good, it won't freeze you out.The ice packs are hard as ice when frozen, not like a gel pack.You get a few good hours out of the packs on a hot day, but if you're wearing it the whole time I would imagine it would be a 2 hour max...then just use it as an evap cooling vest.The ice packs go in pockets inside the vest with a little velcro patch. No other pockets.I was afraid it would look weird but it fits and looks good.The XXL is just a touch smaller than an XXL shirt.
