Simple Quick Easy
At first I was a bit critical about this book. But upon further perusal through the pages I was convinced that I liked it and liked it a lot. There is a simple recipe for Pan-Fried Cheese, Tomato and Onion Sandwich... I was like.... really?? But then I saw a recipe for Yorkshire Pudding. Something I had heard here and there, but never seen nor tasted. As an American I was surprised to find that this "pudding" was actually a fry bread similar to funnel cake. Wow, who knew. And such a simple recipe. It was then I conjured that perhaps the simple sandwich recipe was for those who were as unfamiliar with grilled cheese as I was of Yorkshire Pudding. It is a good book for initial ideas that you can build upon. I already have several ideas of how I want to make the Yorkshire Pudding next time I make it. I have read through several recipes, they look, and sound tasty and are straight forward, easy to follow and the ingredients easy to find, if they are not already in your kitchen. I LOVE this cookbook and I plan on preparing everything in it! It has renewed my love for preparing healthy homemade meals because I don't have to spend all day making them. They are simple, quick, and easy. Kudos Mary for a job very well done. The photos are beautiful as well. :)Note: I have read another review that knocks down the book for using canned jalapenos in a recipe instead of fresh ones.... really??? This reviewer does not have enough common sense to use fresh jalapenos if they are available?? I believe that Mary is offering the simplest most AVAILABLE items... certainly, anyone who wants to can replace these with fresh... but remember they will have to be properly prepared before adding to a recipe. Canned jalapenos are roasted seeded and soaked in water or simply seeded and pickled in vinegar. Fresh jalapenos would need to be seeded and grilled or roasted to replace canned ones. You could even boil them if you wanted. She also calls for free range eggs. Really, you don't HAVE to use free range, it is just a suggestion....etc.

Mary McCartney’s Vegetarian Cookbook “Food”
A wonderful vegetarian cookbook with beautiful photographs and delicious recipes!

Delicious and easy (mostly) vegan recipes.
I bought this book because I thought it might have the recipes from Mary McCartney's Food Network program. It did not, but the recipes it does have look delicious. This book uses English measurements as well as metric, eliminating the need for math conversions - a big bonus as far as I'm concerned.

Simple and delicious recipes
Most of the recipes I have tried so far are simple and delicious. She allows for many substitutions if there is something you don't normally stock in your pantry, again making it very simple. There are still many recipes I want to try; so far I really have to rave about the quinoa vegetable soup was so delicious and actually really pretty and colorful. 5 stars on the lemon and zuchinni spaghetti as well. The photographs for each recipe are also mouth-watering. :) I am excited to make more things from this cookbook.

Just ok
This book is visually beautiful! It has lots of pictures of farm life and plants etc. There are actually more pictures than recipes. But a lot of the recipes are so basic they're silly. French toast calls for bread, eggs and milk. Pancakes call for flour, eggs, bp and milk. Grilled cheese = bread, cheese, tomato and onion. You get the picture. Lots of recipes that are no brainers and shouldn't be in a cookbook. I mean at least add pesto to the grilled cheese or something if you are going to publish a recipe for it. (very good by the way) I like simple easy to prepare meals but I also want some interesting flavors and ingredients I may not have thought of. Everything I have tried so far has been very bland and I have had to alter it to get some flavor which is not the point of a cookbook.

Satisfies meat-lovers, too!
About a year or so ago, I began eating what I later found out was called a "flexitarian" diet. This means that 90% or more of my meals are vegetarian, but I don't deny myself delicious meat dishes if I'm out, and I don't ask friends/family to make special things for me if no vegetarian entree is available. My boyfriend calls me a Selectosaurus. It works for me. Anyway, I saw Mary McCartney selling this book on GMA and I bought it because I wanted to have a beautiful book on hand for when I am cooking vegetarian recipes for myself.Last night, I decided to cook a nice meal for both of us, so I handed my boyfriend a selection of cookbooks to peruse. He chose a bruschetta chicken recipe from one book, and the zucchini and lemon spaghetti from this book for his side (and my main). He actually was enticed by several of the dishes in FOOD because they looked so nice in the pictures, even though he's not one to go meatless for any meal. First of all, cooking together was lots of fun, especially processing the zucchini (an unnecessary step, but a fun one) and chopping up the herbs to make the spaghetti. Then once we were eating, he actually decided he didn't want any more chicken, and ended up going back for thirds of the spaghetti! This is probably much less impressive to those who don't know him, but my boyfriend works out for several hours a day and is generally pretty animal protein-focused. I considered this a great success, and I look forward to breaking it out the next time we cook dinner together (with less jokes from him).

grossartiges Kochbuch
Tolle Rezepte, gesund und schmackhaft. Fabelhafte Arbeit, Mary! Aber sag, warum musstest du Dich mit der Tochter der kriminellen Hillary Clinton und dem menschenverachtenden Kriegsverbrecher Tony Blair abgeben? Sehr schade..

Not your normal naff celebrity cookbook!
I normally associate celebrity chefs with ridiculous recipes that feature ingredients that you've never heard of and are just ridiculously expensive. But this book is very different from this. I had originally heard about it in the Financial Times, as my mum desperate to get me to be more adventurous in my vegetarian cooking (I'll blame that on the student lifestyle!) sent the article to me. And what a book too! Not only do the photographs present a homely recreation of the recipes when they've been cooked - but the recipes are actually edible (there's a lack of vile blue cheeses which I am glad to see) and Mary McCartney comes across as more down to earth in terms of what she thinks people actually eat. As a student, I've been put off by a lot of vegetarian cookbooks (admittedly it may just be that I've been looking in the wrong places), as they present recipes which just combine the vilest combination of foods, or include ingredients that are simply too expensive (as a student this is a major issue for me). This book, though, does not adhere to either of these!Quick tip - the granola bars are gorgeous!

Great new treasure for your kitchen
Mary McCartney's new cookery book 'Food" is a new treasure in my kitchen. I have already tried a few of the recipes. and friends and family all agree that they are original and delicious, so i am looking forward to trying more, very soon. Not only is the book an excellent source of good recipes, unlike many cook books it has a heartwarming text Mary has written with reference to her family. And the accompanying photographs enhance the enjoyment of this lovely book.Highly recommended!
