Great little bell, sounds good and has a nice ring to it. Comes with a strap and a solid D ring clip.

The numerous positive reviews here gave me hope the Nakabayashi bear bell would be a good fit for our hunting dog's collar. After dealing with the old bell's dull clank (that didn't carry well) the clapper finally broke. Yay! I'd wanted to get rid of that bell from the moment I heard it, but my husband had refused to replace it, despite its shortcomings, because 'it worked'.There were a lot more of the same stamped metal bells available online, till I spotted this cast bell and rationalized the cost. Yes, it's three times as expensive as the other bells, but regarding bells, anyway, you get what you pay for. A cheap bell sounds like it. Flat. Harsh. Tinny. Etc. Suffering with the old bell for years made me not want to repeat the same mistake. It'd be nice if it'd do more than just make a noise.The Nakabayashi bear bell was shipped loose in a flimsy mailer with no protection and I was pleased to see it wasn't any the worse for wear because of it. Right out of the envelope it appeared to be a quality piece. Size is comparable to the old bell, but its weight is much more substantial with good, solid construction, heft and a sturdy clapper. But the best part is its ring. A pleasant, crisp tone that carries like nobody's business. I wouldn't recommend it for in the house wear, but for a field bell it's perfect. We can hear our dog in deep brush as well as far in the distance. If he's out of sight when he locks on point we have a much easier time locating him too, because the bell's resonance lingers after it stills. (Unlike the old bell that would go dead, leaving no indication what direction to take.)I replaced the nylon lanyard with a strap I made from some old disused tack I had laying around. The bell's canons are strong and solid, but a bit narrow. After sorting through several pieces I found some bridle leather that fit perfectly and required minimal modification. (Cleaned up and conditioned I know it'll last no matter what he gets into.) The bell hangs well off his collar with plenty of play while he's moving and its oval shape rests nicely on his chest when he sitting.I'm confident we'll get many years of use from this bell and feel I've gotten more than my money's worth with this purchase. Plus I enjoy listening to it. Win win.

I use this to keep track of my dog when hiking. It is very loud and has a nice sound. I just wish it had a silencer for when we are in the car as even on the seat next to me it clanks around quite a bit

Very nice quality bell. Nice tone and "loud enough" without being obnoxiously loud. Thanks to those who answered my question about the sound before I bought this. The cast brass is what gives this bell its heft and tone. The sleighbell designs made from sheet metal will never equal the sound of this bell.As for looks, I was worried looking at the photo on Amazon that the strap was black leather. I really wanted was brown. Well, I got a pleasant surprise when this bell arrived. The strap is a dark brown, not black. And it's nylon rather than leather which is undoubtedly a better solution in rain and snow and mud. Even the carabiner has a brown anodized gate on it.The bell isn't round, it's slightly oval at 2" X 1 3/4" the whole thing from the bottom of the bell to the top of the carabiner is 6 1/2" long. I know this bell is about 3 times the price of the sleighbell alternative but I'd recommend comparing the two before you buy. The quality of this bell may hook you.I hung mine on the rope I have attached to a 60" hickory hiking staff I made. If I want to silence it, I can just slide my hand down to cover the bell quickly. Another reviewer said he carries the bell on a belt loop and simply flips the bell into a hip pocket to silence it. I'll play around with both methods and see which is most convenient for me.

For a little bell, it is loud! I have yet to try it on the trail (then again, if I don't return because I got eaten by a bear, then you know it didn't deter the bear!) but just taking it out of the packaging it is a bit piercing! The other more popular brand (don't want to throw under the bus) that is more like a jingle bell isn't near as loud or detering!

This is a quality item with a nice tone to the bell. We used it attached to our backpacks when biking near Yellowstone National Park and multiple animals would hear us coming from a distance. Our goal was to not surprise any bears as we were in the back country away from almost everyone, and we didn't have any unwanted encounters. I highly recommend it because it sounds pleasant and is loud without being too loud. Before using this, we kept ringing our bike bells, but that was a lot of work to remember to do consistently. This rings without you having to do anything but hike or bike with it attached to you.

What I like is this bell is load. I know I will not surprise any wildlife on the trail ahead of me. Excellent quality, I like the carabiner that allows for easy attachment to my belt, or pack.

かなり音はでかいです100m程はなれた位置にいたクマが全力で走ってきて「うるせーんだよこの糞がぁ！」ってぶん殴られましたクマに怒られた時はどこの家庭にもある外形10mm、内径7mmのシリコンチューブでほぼ消音してクマが居なくなってから再び鳴らすようにしています

熊よけが目的なので音がよく響くものを探してましたレビューではきれいな音でよく響くと多数ありましたので購入を決意実際に使ってみてレビューどおり、澄んだ音でよく響きますカラビナ付きなのでどこにでもすぐに取り付けれるのは有難い本番で使うのが楽しみです

登山に使用するために購入しました。重さは100g未満なので、気になりません。何より音が大きく、遠くからでも聞こえると思います。消音機能はありませんので、私は写真の様に輪ゴムで対応しています。完全に消音できてます。

登山用に購入リンリンではなく レン！レーーーーン！ぐらいで鳴ります音量はデカい方がいいので良い感じですザックのコンプレッションストラップに装着すると登りでは音が出て、下りではあまり出ない感じになりましたひと気のない兵庫の七種山縦走で使用しましたが、爬虫類以外の気配はありませんでした関係無いけどレアな蛇、ジムグリに遭遇しました野鳥のエンカウントもなくなりますが熊とかシシに遭遇しないのならまぁいいかなと人が多い登山道とかだと恥ずかしいですねベル部を洗濯バサミで挟んでおくとかなりミュートします

熊避けとして買いました。このキーンと高い音色が気に入っています。（私が熊なら寄ってくるかも…笑）凄く高価なもっと良質な音色をする商品もあるようですが、音色、音量、値段、耐久性で考慮すると大きさも手頃でこれが良いと思いました。おすすめです!
