Intelligently Portrayed.
Excellent rendering of the events. Couldn't stop reading until it ended. Very cathartic. Rare author address such bygone issues these days.

Impressive first book!
I was looking to read something on WW2 when my gaze fell on the book title. Did a quick scan of the book on Amazon and decided to give it a try. This is the first book by the author and overall I found it fast-paced with an interesting plot spanning three continents. I really liked the fact that the protagonist Joe looked a real-life character and wasn’t over the top. The core plot itself is very believable as a lot of it actually happened in the post WW2 world. Two things I couldn’t digest well though was how slowly the investigation happened for the brother’s murder (and had a tame end to it) and that the end was too abrupt & didn’t tie everything together (may be to push the readers to the second part). However, overall enjoyed reading it and will be going for the next one shortly.

A compulsive reading thriller
A thriller, yes, but Johnson is more of a bumbling detective, who fails in most of the detective trade craft. After having read classics by Le Carre, particularly the Karla trilogy, I find Johnson to be an amateur rather than a professional, experienced Nazi hunter. Almost all the twists in the novel were due to serious errors in judgement by the main protagonist, Johnson. Carrying a number of legends will not help if a person is not discrete in using them. The SIS girl Jayne was better in this aspect. Overall, an average book.

Exciting and fast paced story with the background of a Nazi Chapter
Liked it very much, has the capacity to keep one glued. Nice narrative on the aspect of how the shady criminals from Nazi era still found a leash of fresh life by conning others and also how even the state agencies stooped low enough to employ those criminals for complicated motives

Nazi Hunter Joe
It was racy, thrilling and some chase sceans were good enough to keep you hooked. It's a mix of politics, ww2, risky journalism and travel to distant locations like Buenos Aires, London , Paraguay. What I liked most was Brenner who a Nazi soldier and ran concentrations camps in 1944 did what he was best at again in South America that is he made one more concentration camp and threw some people again in the dark dungeon of poverty, slavery, hunger and made them work there to get some profit from the gold that he was forced to buy from twin kudrow brothers. There are lots of hints in the book that will lure you to read it's prequel " The Afghan" . The story develops well and Joe has unfinished business left with Watson ,Ignacio. All this will be settled in the next books of the series. There was no foul language or vulgarity anywhere. Happy that I have read it.

Okayish
It’s an decent effort. Gripping in patches when it tried to uncover the Nazi war criminal and the poles. Otherwise it’s about alright.

Good !
The cat and the mouse game is well described , but also has may absurd coincidences to weave upon . In the end , the author manages to bring all into a complete circle !!

Thriller with supporting documentation. How can humans be so brutal?
I like the details of history, details of daily lives of spies, and details of conflicted politicians. All of this takes space/pages in a book, and takes time to read. Insert a subtle commentary on world events and leaders, and out comes a fascinating story. I will read more books by Andrew Turpin.

A Great Read
I purchased this for a recent holiday read and wasn’t disappointed. I found myself immersed in the book from page one. The author does a great job of character development and the book stands alone even though it is part of series of books on the protagonist, Joe Johnson. There were some challenging themes that could have benefited from more depth and realism but overall the book was an entertaining read.

Book, the last NS

Up there with the best thriller writers
Genuinely loved this book!I read this book whilst on holiday and in the same week I read a couple of James Patterson's novels, this is in the same class. A fast paced, page turning story which is evidently well researched, pulling the reader into the action. The characterisations of the 'hero' and the protagonists are so well made you become immersed in this world of deceit, subterfuge and crime. The words 'page turner' are all too often used but I personally found myself racing to the end to untangle the web of threads laid by the author and discover the final outcome. The research and detail make the fiction almost believable, you end up willing Joe to 'win' but on the way empathising with the twins for the terrors they endured. If you like a fast paced thriller, full of drama and crime solving then this will be right up your alley. It is hard to believe this is the first novel from a new author, it has all the facets of a seasoned professional.
