Not for distance
If you're into distance hiking, you may find these are not for you. The heel cup has caused me bad blistering on the left and right sides of both my heels on both hikes I've done with them so far. Out to 10 miles they are very comfy and offer more than Salomon's own Ortholite insoles. But much beyond 10 miles and the nipping at the heels begins and worsens all the way to taking them off. A different sock might help, but I wear Salomon x-crew and they're very good. And perhaps they're just not compatible with my current boot (Salomon Outpulse). Maybe the height of the heel cup lifts my heel into a section of the heel of the boot that's causing the rubbing and not actually rubbing against the insole cup itself. It's hard to call. But just be aware, if you get blistering around your heels having not suffered blistering for years, you've found the same as me. I would however put these in a pair of dog walking shoes or work footwear in a heartbeat. For shorter distances sub 10 miles I don't think I've ever had a comfier insole so I've still given them 3 stars. I'd give these 6 stars if that comfort lasted out to 20 miles.

Functional Hallux Limitus: First inserts and I am impressed
I am (or was) a very active person until but had dodgy ankles that seemed to sprain after too much training. By my mid-20s I had pretty much given up on running and now in my late 20s one ankle had gotten so bad that it felt like a constant mild sprain and as such was wary of old passions like rock climbing, and was even giving up long walks.Got a "Medical Pedicure" and by chance the practitioner had 30+years of experience in the NHS. Within the first few minutes she diagnosed it and gave me amazing advice. Relevant here was being told about inserts. However, I bulked at the Β£400 prescription insole and decided I would try a few of these. For my condition, I need a high heel to help my foot go heel-toe without pronation; these inserts don't quite do the job for that but they have stabilised my feet enough that one week later, my particularly grumpy ankle is starting to feel better.Importantly, when I went for my first walk with these the difference was instantly and glaringly noticeable: it was like going to the optician for the first time and realising "oh, this is what the world is supposed to look like." I could feel the stability in my ankles and therefore noticed that they had previously been rolling all over the place. Could this be a placebo? Possibly. But, I had got another popular insole which I quickly returned because it didn't match my needs. Will I be buying these for each pair of shoes I wear regularly? Not yet. Ultimately, while these do help I need something with better heel height and support. I am going to try a few more and hopefully find something even better suited to Functional Hallux Limitus, but in the meantime I am very happy with these and excited to be able to hike and climb again.

Not convinced
I bought these to slip inside my work shoes after reading some reviews that they're better for work than the ones designed for work. They've definitely helped, were easy to fit and resize, but my feet still ache and will probably have to invest in some new shoes instead. Good, but not perfect for what I needed from them...

Pricey but the relief and comfort make it worthwhile
These can be trimmed to fit! For so long I have suffered with pain in my feet! I have the worse flat feet ever!!! I consider myself quite active so pain and discomfort just takes away from the whole fitness experience. Having had several visits to the doctors, it was the specialist that took one look at my stance and recommended an insole! They did not specify which one but they said to try an off the shelf version first and if this was not suitable then an approach could be made to have a bespoke insole made! The one thing the specialist stated was that I needed to give any new insole a chance! He warned it would be painful at first and this was the difference of all the advice that I had received before as of course I had tried insoles but found them to increase pain and not resolve it! This foot active insole is really well made and supportive and I would highly recommend them! A little pricy when you want to have a set for each pair of shoes but the comfort and relief from pain that they give makes you see beyond the price !

Happy feet for first time in 30 years!
Do you suffer from flat feet?Condemned yourself to the pile of "can't do anything about it" based on feedback from a GP or similar years, if not decades ago?Want to do something about it?Read on...So, I jumped on amazon and ordered these a few days ago.And they arrived today.I removed the old insoles and inserted these new ones, hopeful of a result.I then undid my laces and slipped my foot into the first trainer...Wow!I cannot describe how "right" my trainer now felt.I inserted the new insole to the other trainer. And laced them both up, and had a wee walk round the dining room.Within seconds, I finally felt the comfort and the support I had been missing all these decades. The heel arch was comfortable beyond belief. And as my feet were now positioned in the shoe correctly, the outside of my feet are no longer chaffing against the trainer wall.Even my heel felt supported. And over time, these will bring my arch back again, allowing my feet to support me correctly, something they haven't done since...well...a long time ;)Trust me, these are amazing!π¦Άπ» = π
