Great buy- kids loved them
I ordered these for easter. I was concerned when I opened the package as the yellow egg had a small crack in it and I had read reviews that it may never hatch- but it wasn't an issue at all.We left all 6 in large cups of water and they were completely hatched in 2-3 days. We left the critters in the water for another 2-3 days to watch them grow. After we took them out of the water they shrank back down just a bit but were still a great size. They were much cuter than I was expecting for a water soaking toy. The girls love them. Definitely recommend.

but if you can find them cheaper I think they are a cool, non-sugary surprise for an Easter basket that lasts ...
Overall 3-4 stars: I wouldn't pay the current price of $18, but if you can find them cheaper I think they are a cool, non-sugary surprise for an Easter basket that lasts awhile. I bought these on a lightning deal for Easter. The kids thought they were cool and were excited to wake up every morning to check on the progress of their creatures growth.Cool Factor: 5 out 5 - not too many toys have had my kids as excited as they were, especially that early in the morning. It was like Christmas every day for a week (for about 10 minutes...)Product: 5 out of 5. These things grew larger than expected. I was impressed that they kept getting larger day after day. While they do retain a 'squished' look, you can see that they are easily 2-3 times bigger than the egg they hatch from.Quality: 3 out of 5 - Three of the six eggs were fractured upon arrival. While this didn't affect the actual toy - one of my kids complained that his was broken while his brothers wasn't. Fortunately I don't have 6 kids, so I was able to swap his out for an extra.Value: 3 out of 5 - At ~$3 each egg, the kids got 1-2 minutes of excitement value each day for almost a week. They retain a soggy texture, even after being out of the water for days - so they can't really play with them. The images are after 4-5 days in the water, and the kids getting them out repeatedly to compare the size and play with them a bit. I think if you just left them alone the coloring would be a little more crisp

Fun for kids of all ages
What a great product that you can't get anywhere else. We had a Easter Egg Hunt for our playgroup and each kid went home with an Egg to Hatch. The kids were so excited to wake up the next day and check on their eggs! The directions are very simple and we haven't had a dud yet. I ordered three boxes and one had three eggs already cracked from shipment but I didn't have time to return them and they just hatch faster. We started out with a water glass and the pet out grew the space so we had to move up to a bowl. Well worth the price for the fun and magic!

kids were excited, but then a little let down
Firstly, 2 of the 6 eggs were broken in transit. So, we went ahead and put those in water. They were 'ready' in 2 days, but kinda gross. I did change the water every 24 hours, but the animals are covered in a weird sandy kind of substance that I had to scrub off. The animals are a soft, grotesque version of what they are supposed to be. The eggs that arrived unbroken were hidden in an Easter egg hunt and the kids were very excited to find them. I kept these in water longer, still changing the water every 24 hours, and they just kept growing more and more grotesque. It's hard to describe, but the kids really weren't interested in playing with these wet, creepy animals.

Broken Eggs, Nasty and Not Fit for Young Kids
We broke one egg rather quickly. They are fragile and need to be handled with care. Just started to soak one this morning and will update. The broken egg Frog is hanging in water to grow a bit. My son wants to touch them and is having a hard time understanding they will hatch in a day or so.Recap. Two other eggs were broken! We tried to hatch one egg and it did hatch but it was not the cute; guessing here ducking?; has hard plastic pieces sticking out of it. The frog did grow and looked ok but even after removing it from water and letting it dry stuff kept coming off of it. Definitively not a toy for kids. I would not recommend this product.Great concept and my son was interested in the hatching part of this but we would not let him touch or play with the hatchlings. Not recommended.

Good concept, but who wants wet, ugly and slimy pets?
My first order came broken. But amazon took care of that and my second one came perfectly intact. (Don't you just love great customer service?)Now, about the eggs. My toddler son loves the idea of a pet egg. I let him choose an egg and put it in a closed, clear plastic container with room temp water so he can look at the egg and sometimes carry the container around without spilling the water. I also change the water every night. On the second day the egg start to crack and on the 4th day it was already completely out of the shells. I let it stay in the water to let it "grow" and after a couple of days out of the shells I finally put it out and dry it.The pet itself is definitely not as cute as the pictures. The paint peeled off and makes the pet look a bit creepy, it is constantly wet (I put it on a kitchen towel on my counter top for 2 days already and it is still wet!) and after you hold it for a few moments your hands feels a bit slimy. My son hates it and won't even touch it. He immediately asks for another pet egg to hatch.I gave 2 stars because even though the concept of pet egg and hatching eggs are apparently mind blowing for toddlers, having to throw away the toy pets once they're out of the shells is really waste of money for me.

Awesome Concept!
I loved these things, but be careful with them. My daughter dropped the tray that holds the eggs when we opened the box and 5 of the 6 cracked right open. The last one was slightly cracked so we atleast got to try that one in the water. Wish we could have tried them all. But oh well. I will buy these again next year for Easter and be more careful :)

They never stop growing…
We gave these to the kids in their Easter baskets. As the things kept growing, I kept transferring them to larger and larger buckets of water. I’m considering filling a bathtub and seeing if they get larger than watermelons.
