What's the difference if any between amazon fire tv and other boxes? i'm new to streaming tv just trying to get the better unit. thanks in advance.

You can side load Kodi on both Amazon media streaming boxes. If you're not familiar- KODI is a secondary media streamer where you can stream any tv show or movie for FREE. Do yourself a favor and watch some YouTube videos on installing KODI on the Fire TV or the Fire TV stick. I have 5) total Fire TV sticks and they work FLAWLESSLY. It's the best $39.00 you'll spend. Especially considering their new and improved version for November of 16'

Could someone please tell me why I should pay $50 for this unit instead of the Stick. Thanks.

Like many others, I'm considering the Fire Stick vs. Fire TV products.  Both new models are out this month (March 2017).  The only difference, other than the 4K video support, is that the Fire Stick has 1G memory while the Fire TV has 2G memory.  Is that extra 1G of memory worth the extra $50 and the extra bulk?  I plan to use it when I travel and stay in hotels and the Fire Stick just seems more convenient.  The only other minor benefit I've read about the Fire TV is that since it requires a cord, the unit does not have to be behind the TV where the wifi signal may be weaker.  Any comparisons from users with the newer 2017 Fire product line equipment?  Thanks.

Will this work with low bandwith?

If you have true 6Mb/s service this'll work fine with 720p...I used it with that for years with no issues.  1Mb/s isn't REALLY good enough...it'll technically work with a lot of streaming services, but too low quality to be worth it IMO unless say you're just watching a show for free that you missed on the air or something, and don't mind too much.  I *think* you probably need at least 3Mb/s for streaming to really work well, though like I said, I've only used 1 and 6.

I just hooked up my fire tv box and i am new to streaming. Will adding a microsd card or external hard drive be any real use?

Maybe maybe not I've always been streaming DVD players where I started, recently got the fire tv, loved it until I started getting low storage message, I had bought a 4K compatible sad card 128G even went and bought another from amazon cause I thought the first one wasn't the right one. Still keep get low storage message even though I move the main apps to sd card, I looked at the memory on external storage still showing 119G of 119G that means nothing is stored on it. It's a problem.
