which parts are plastic/metal paint on plastic? Thank you.

I hate to burst the bubble of some of the reviewers on here, but I have an all-original one from the 60s (almost certainly made in USA), and the provenance is assured. While it is primarily metal construction, the two gears on top of the beaters are in fact nylon (what people would probably call plastic). So parts being made of plastic are probably not the end-all indicator of quality.

Is this rotary beater dishwasher safe?

I put it in my dishwasher on a light load and it was fine

Is this made in China?

Yes it is. Unlike the other answer, I have found it to be a good value. The blades on mine are not at all sharp and it has worn well for a couple of years now. China is not the issue.

While I can't say for sure (the item is not marked, it did not arrive in printed packaging, but in a plastic bag), I would guess China.
