During their years of tireless creative urge, Robert and Charles Ingersoll, the founders of one of the oldest American watch manufacturers, established many milestones in the field of developing pocket and wrist watches. They followed an ambitious plan that incorporated on the one hand, to offer watches to the broad public, and on the other hand to offer reasonable prices whilst maintaining real quality. In 1892, thanks to Henry Ford, they succeeded in developing an automated method of production, first for pocket watches and later for wrist watches. Alongside the existing handcrafted production of Ingersoll watches, an automated production of watches was established.With high quality and precision, at the very reasonable price of 1 dollar (which was a day's wages at the time) the so-called "Dollar-Watch" was born. The Dollar-Watch became so popular that about 1 million of these watches were produced. Even Theodore Roosevelt mentioned that during his hunting trip in Africa he was described as "the man from the country where Ingersoll was produced."The success of the "Dollar Watch" (also called the "Yankee") from then on was amazing. The Ingersoll brothers had to adapt to increasing production and increasing production plants. Meanwhile, the product range had been expanded by some technical pioneering refinements. Great watch, but I hate the watch strap
This watch is beautiful, this is the second Ingersoll watch I buy and I like most their design. Now, I have two issue I have with the design, the first one is the watch strap as it is complicated to use especially when you have to do it with one hand. The second issue is that it is not shock resistant, I had an accident with my other Ingersoll watch as it felt when I was trying to tight the watch strap and the watch broke as soon as it hit the floor. I took it to several watch repair shop and they said that only Ingersoll could repair it, I sent it to Ingersoll and the cost to repair it was almost $280 so just $100 less than buying a new one.

WARNING - DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
This may look like a gorgeous quality watch, but trust me it is far from it. They state they are "designed" in Germany, but are ACTUALLY MADE IN CHINA (which they don't state anywhere though I found out through a hard dig around)... and it shows. Had it for 6 months and it's already broken. Even the booklet it comes with has SO MANY spelling mistakes and grammatical errors that you know this isn't a company that takes quality control seriously. If you buy from Amazon (or online anywhere) the 2 year Ingersoll warranty Amazon claims it includes will not be honored by Ingersoll, and is in fact totally void because Amazon is not an "authorized dealer". You will have to pay for postage and repairs which (SURPRISE!) are very expensive. If it breaks after Amazon's refund policy window and you want to return it to get your money back, you will only get a partial refund. Both companies are obviously happy to take a lot of your money while lying to you to make you think you are getting something fantastic, but when it turns out you've paid a lot of money for a heap of $&%(# ... don't expect anyone to care...

Looks cheap
This and as I have come to discover ALL Ingersoll watches finished in "Rose Gold" look cheap. Depending on the circles you run in may or may not be a problem. But if you do have friends and colleagues who know quality watches they will not be impressed, I certainly am not.
