Well-made urinal
First, let me say that the two people here who have given the urinal one star because it leaks from the top don't understand that male urinals are not meant to be leak-proof from the top. Over the past 20-30 years I have used a dozen different brands, and none of them had leak-proof tops.Almost everything about this urinal is fine. I am 65 years old and I have been using male urinals for about 20 years. The plastic is heavy and the lid is tight (perhaps even a little too tight). The overall quality is very good, and the shape is perfect. The only problem with the urinals is that they have some rough edges that can hurt your hands. Molten plastic squeezed through the pieces of the mold (in places), leaving sharp seams. I had to use a nipper to cut the ridges off. The Carex urinals don't have this problem.I did notice that there is a small opening between the main part of the urinal and the handle, which means that if you pee right on it, you might get some urine into the handle. I probable should take a star off for that, but I'm not, as I don't think it will prove to be a major problem. If you are new to using urinals in bed, you must wake up enough to do it without spilling it. There was one time when I fell asleep while urinating, and when I changed positions, the urine spilled into the bed. There was another time when I was groggy and put the urinal on the edge of the night stand, and it fell onto the floor. (The urinal that fell was not this urinal, and the lid popped off. I believe that the lid of this urinal would have stayed on.) You must have your wits about you when peeing in bed. However, using a urinal in bed will disturb your sleep much less than getting up and walking to the bathroom.Regarding recycling, urinals are made of recyclable plastic and can be recycled with your cans and bottles (depending on your location). However, if there is a heavy build-up of minerals in the urinal, you can't recycle it. A urinal CAN be cleaned. The type of cleaner that works best is the type that you squeeze around the rim of your toilet. Put a little water into the urinal, squeeze in two or three tablespoons of cleaner, and then hold the top down firmly while you shake it. Then let it sit for 15-30 minutes. You'll then need to scrub out the urinal with a good bottle brush, preferably one with a hooked end to get into the bottom corners of the urinal. If you can't get the minerals out, don't recycle it.Incidentally, a good urinal like this is not meant to be a one-use item. I pee four times a night, so I have four urinals next to my bed, and some of them are more than ten years old. The minerals (from one's urine) can build up quite a bit and even become caked inside the urinal, but that does nothing to harm the functionality of the urinal.Since I first bought them, these urinals have shot up in price. For that reason, I now prefer the Carex urinals, which are cheaper.

Gets the job done
I bought this urinal for a family member who had back surgery and couldn't get around easily for several weeks. Normally I would go to Walmart and look at something like this before buying, but I didn't have time. This urinal did the trick, but needed a few modifications. I had to use a blob of bathtub silicone to seal up a small hole in the handle which would have allowed pee to pool in the hollow handle. I also used an emery board to smooth out a couple of rough spots in the mouth of the bottle, which could have been painful if the user wasn't careful.Overall, for $6 and a short time-frame for preparation, this was a decent and useful product. It holds one quart of liquid, has a comfortable handle which can also hook over a hospital bed rail, and it has a lid to prevent spilling and odors. It rinses out easily and can be bleached. It's USA made, which is surprising in a world full of stuff made in China. I cleaned it after our patient didn't need it anymore, and put it away for any future needs.

Yunga Tart Male Urinal
Two had been purchased for an elderly individual. Well made with thick plastic with rounded (smooth) opening. It leaks at the lid (but most brands do anyway), and it requires extra effort to close/open the lid, but when gripping firmly to try and close it, the thick plastic doesn't crush at all. There are two smooth indentations on opposite sides of the bottle near the top for fingers to grip onto. The lid has a well-made connector to the bottle. The individual this was purchased for isn't considered weak in his hands, but he has to rest the bottom of the bottle on a surface or on his thigh while gripping the bottle with one hand and then pushing down firmly with the palm of the other hand to close the lid. There is a definite click. It balances fairly well though can tip over when compared to those with more broader bases. Would have given 5 stars except for it takes more effort and time for the individual to want to open/close the lid; so he often resorts back to the ones with the thinner plastic on the lids.

Sturdy, balanced, handy
I bought these for my dad who sometime has trouble getting out of bed at night. These are just as sturdy as I hoped they'd be. Plus, they're balanced enough to stand on end on their own. Because some reviewers commented that these had sharp edges, I was careful to check all of the ones I received. Luckily, all the edges were smooth. Now I know when Dad has bad nights, I don't have to worry about him getting up, trying to make it to the restroom, and falling. A great security measure for those days his balance is off!

Best. Urinal. Ever.
Being disabled sometimes sucks and when it comes to toileting it just doesnt suck, it stinks! Plastic urinals seem to spring leaks fairly regular so I buy cheap ones. Usually I get what I pay for.. well NOT in this case. This is quality through and through. Good seal and super thick plastic.. really seems like this one will last a year or longer! Very pleased. Oh and get a load of what was printed on the back: "USE AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Hand wash with mild detergent. Please do not put in dishwasher. Heat will damage plastic, plus it's just GROSS! (Ha!!!, I love that.. way to go Yungatart!)

WHEN IS AN OUNCE NOT AN OUNCE: Inaccurate Measurement
After using this urinal for awhile, I discovered the urinal measurement is not accurate. To test for measurement accuracy, I used 2 kitchen measuring cups that measured the same, I found that this urinal shows 3 ounces as being 4 ounces. Apparently it is consistent in being 1 ounce off, because 32 ounces shows as 33 ounces. Of course each time you measure it before emptying, you will have to reduce your total by 1 ounce. All my previous daily measurement comparisons using this product have been inaccurate! Still I think this urinal is far better than the Carex, which is not level.

Sturdy urinal
Sturdy plastic which doesn't dent or crack. One design flaw is a small hole in the handle which allows urine to pool in the handle. Would like to have one for travel that has a spill proof lid.
