The There'll Be Peace When You Are Done: Actors and Fans Celebrate the Legacy of Supernatural

Disappointingly preachy and off-topic
The two stars are for some of the essays by the stars and guest stars of the show, which were truly enjoyable and informative. The rest...at least NINE of the essays were about LGBT issues of coming out, representation, tolerance, etc. Several more were on feminism and other gender issues. Not saying those aren't valid topics, but after a while it just felt like, come on, that's not what I'm reading this book for. I don't agree with all the social and religious agendas of these writers, and so half the book felt like a slog. I did enjoy some of the essays, though--see above--and there were very nice pictures and artwork throughout.

Worth it for Shoshanna Stern's chapter alone
Disclaimer, yes, I have a chapter in this book. I would have bought it and read it cover-to-cover the first night even if I didn't have a chapter. I loved Lynn's last book, Family Don't End with Blood, and this one continues in that vein with chapters that give insight into what this show has meant to both actors and fans and how it has changed those involved with Supernatural for the better. For true fans, it is so interesting to read about the experiences of other actors on the show, from recurring characters to those who appeared in only one episode. I greatly enjoyed Shoshanna Stern's chapter about working as a deaf actress in Hollywood and how she was welcomed on the Supernatural set when she played Eileen. Ditto for the chapter from Julie McNiven on playing the angel Anna and a very memorable love scene with Dean. I have a personal attachment to the chapters by Hugo Ateo and Lee Rumohr who played the very memorable male hunter couple of Cesar and Jesse. The fan chapters are varied and it's fascinating to see where Supernatural unexpectedly led all of those who love the show and those who actually helped to create it. The book highlights the diversity in casting, addresses some of the often-highlighted problems with female characters on the show, and reinforces the idea that what has been created here among cast, crew, and fans is a true family. There'll Be Peace When You are Done reminds those of us who love this show why it truly has been lightening in a bottle. And if you aren't crazy about the writing style or subject of one chapter, the next one will be completely different. Lastly, Jensen Ackles chapter about his attachment to the show and the fans really got to me. So many good people worked so hard to give us a show this amazing and it's wonderful to read about their experiences in their own words.

A bit misleading but overall worth it for the die hard fan
I like Lynn, but the chapters from Jared and Jensen are not new content, nor were they actually “written” by them. They are pieced together quotes from the boys from previous interviews, appearances and stories. Also Misha’s is not a chapter. It’s barely a paragraph. The only saving grace is there are new and well written chapters by some of the other guest actors who weren’t featured in Lynn’s previous book.

A Truly Epic Sendoff For Our Show
While the intention of this book was to be a cushion for the blow of the season finale for our beloved show, Supernatural, now it is a warm and perfect coffee date. Yes, Supernatural didn't come to the end we were prepared for, but as is with our brothers, nothing quite goes as planned. Not even the end of our show.Instead, sit back with your coffee, tea, water, Family Business beer... *side eye* and read these FAMAZING stories about the cast, crew, and fans of Supernatural. Lynn and her team did an amazing job with these stories using inclusivity, humor, and heart. All the things that make Supernatural what it has become over the years.I cried reading some of these. I laughed at a ton of them, because what is SPN without laughter? The bookends are exactly what you'd expect from this collection of amazing people. Jared to start us off with emotion and sweetness and Jensen closes it with a sincere and no nonsense style we've come to love. Some highlights for me: Shoshannah Stern, Amy Hutton, Richard Speight Jr., Lauren Tom, Chad Lindberg, Tahmoh Penikett, and the Hunter Husbands. But truly, every story deserves to be read. They were all thoughtfully done and beautifully written. We have a very creative and talented group of people under our huge SPNFamily umbrella. And I'm so very thankful for them all.Thank you to the author for all her time and effort in doing this massive undertaking one more time.

#SPNFAMILYFOREVER
I could not put this book down and read it the day it arrived. It is rare when a TV show profoundly affects us in positive ways. Family. Relationships. Universal balance in good vs. evil, love vs. hate, brother vs. brother and on and on. This show and the characters caught my attention because no one was perfect (not even 'Chuck'), fighting for the greater good wasn't always right, bad things were sometimes good, and sometimes people just can't or don't want to be saved.Let's face it, real life is hard and filled with 'stuff' we all have to deal with. What do you do? I think the best advice came from, of all the characters, Frank Devereaux: "Decide to be fine until the end of the week. Make yourself smile because you're alive and that's your job. And do it again the next week." Buy this book because it is all of us and you'll find yourself in it.Thank you Supernatural for15 awesome years!

A wonderful reflection on Supernatural and the SPNFamily
Editor Lynn Zubernis has put together a book of personal accounts by actors and viewers that are as varied as the SPNFamily itself, all held together with the common thread of their love for Supernatural. Enjoy the book as you raise a toast to the brothers Winchester as they end their 15 year epic journey.

International users be aware, language support sucks. Other than that, works great. Slow but great.
Well I had to tinker with the setting of the scanner AND my computer quite a bit to get it to display properly. Otherwise the scanner will just show me a page full of ???? Seriously I do use Chinese sometimes but that's not my go-to language and NOT my computer's default setting either. But no matter how I tell the setting "I want English" the scanner would not listen to me. There is actually no straight forward "Set your language" option. I had to jump through quite a few hoops to get it to work. Other than this, great!

What a legacy
A touching well thought through book that is a gift to all , not just Supernatural enthusiasts,. It has helpful and hopeful true life stories to offer a wider audience. Lynn's books never fail to touch a raw nerve in your heart, but in a good way.***SPOLER ALERT FOR SPN FAMILY*********Stop here unless you want to know too much in advance*************** NOPE??? OK enjoy as I........ Ramble On******A Wonderful new book was dropped on my doorstep at exactly midday . Unable to contain myself I started reading and read from cover to cover (well, I cheated , I always sneak peak the last few pages first) Finshing with only brief break for lunch, tea and one or two obligatory chores, at 10.15pm. A record even by my standards . It was that enthrallling, I could not put it down, except when I had too...Having read " Family Don't end with Blood" I knew it would be a good one ( If you've not read FDEWB check it out, you may find your Tribe...)I tried to avoid too much of the press to ensure it didn't color my reading. It was worth it as it went on to surpass my expectations. Each contribution was well thought out and showed all the wonderful amazing extremes and diversity of the SPN family. I cried, I laughed, there were trials and tribulations, successes , joy and virtual rasberry blowing that made me lol ( Bless you David) Every chapter had a power and strength of its own told by remarkable people. The illustrations were magnificent and Sheri's work is always a joy. We have the most photogenic cast and greatest photographers.I especially related to Andrea Drepaul's story, the feeling of being an outsider in the playground through being different, the bullying, the sense of injustice, I could absolutely relate, she could almost be writing for me specifically. TV was our friend and window to the world, a world that allowed us to connect.I was particularly moved by the beautiful symmetry of our "Hunter Husbands" Lee and Hugo's chapters sitting back to back, it worked so darn well. They were two sides of the same story supporting, echoing and meshing together perfectly , real partners they had each others backs. Like a reflection of Sam and Dean (played by Jensen and Jared.) Cesare and Jesse (played by Hugo and Lee) strike up a supporting and validating friendship through the show. These two chapters just shone out to me of how much bringing together our beloved show does.Throughout the book there's a recurring thread of feeling different, outside, invisibile, frustrated. Each of the chapters are written by writers who all seem to have found their ways to SPN at just the right time, in their hour of need when they sought validation, purpose and just one person to really see them , encourage them, recognise they exist and are enough. This little show and the community around it, were there for them. Who needs media awards when that kind of magic happens???This show outgrew its origins, to quote Jensen Ackles " our home is a place where everyone is welcome" and that's what make SPN what it is and through Lynn's efforts in bringing this book together alongside her ongoing work on her own webpage and reviews it shows this community is a home to be proud of.Thanks to everyone involved, And Brendan Taylor, being nice is a good thing, heck it's the best thing you can be, please never change.
