Pastel Company 25-Piece Thunderstorm Grey Set

Have a starter set of Unison pastels and love them. Watched some tutorials of pastel comparisons on Mount Vision pastels and decided to give them a try since the cost is less expensive than Unisons. I actually like the Mount Visions better. Heavy pigment plus they don't crumble as easily as Unisons. Will be buying more sets for sure and this grey set of 25 is beautiful!

I had seen several artist online using this Thunderstorm Grey set and was impressed by their rave reviews. I agree with those rave reviews. This set has colors I don't have in other sets. They are soft enough to blend easily and hard enough to create crisp lines. One note: a small number of pastels were cleanly broken upon arrival. That doesn't matter in the slightest as the first thing I do with any set is to break off 1/2" sections for easier handling. I will be ordering other sets of Mount Vision pastels as the feel is very nice.

The pastels had been over wrapped by Blick and were fine.Thank goodness

I've tried just about all the brands of pastels available. In the scheme of things I'd rate these in the middle as far as hardness...maybe a touch closer to the hard side. They're airy, not dense. I might compare them most closely to the Unisons. These greys are invaluable for the majority of the painting, the neutrals that the higher chroma colors rest on...although the colors are glorious. Also ordered the small light blue set...equally as beautiful in color and texture. The last set I presently have is the dark earth...yum! Have just ordered the large selection of landscape greens...can't wait to see how those translate. I'm impressed with these, especially for the cost. I use Mount Vision and Terry Ludwig almost exclusively now, with a few Schminke and Giraults thrown in, on sanded papers...UART, Multimedia Artboard, Ampersand, and my own handmade papers and boards...great match!

The pastels arrived broken. I haven’t opened all of them but so far a few ends are shattered.Bummed :-(

These pastels aren't too hard, aren't too soft. The sticks are rather large, so I think they are a great value. The colors are beautiful and a necessary supplement to the usual bright chromatic sets. The picture is pretty accurate as to color.

Soft, buttery pastels fit my needs. Excellent!
