I did have to take the ankle tie out of these - it was just too tight to easily get the booties on. I have a very high arch that was the factor. Otherwise, these are perfect. Both of the places I surf regularly are very rocky this year. I am thrilled to have something comfortable that offers great protection!

This booties are Really comfortable, I use it to surf and helps with the cold water so I can surf longer. I have a tiny feet, so even after ordering the smaller size it’s still too big. But I like the string to pull the ankle tighter so the water doesn’t get to it.

The good: Construction and conceptCompared to others, these are a great shoe for surfing due to having: split toe, strap down, bungee back, mixed materials on top, flexible and fitted sole.The bad: SizingUnless you know your O'Neil size, too risky to buy online.First, these are men''s" sizes (though I don't think this is listed anywhere). I am a true 6.5 regular shoe and a Roxy surf boot 6, so ordered a 5 in these. They were laughably tiny. I got them on but they were so short in length they were causing a slight toe curl and would have resulted in losing a big toenail after too many sessions, and the velcro only went over about halfway. I read another review of a girl who is a 7 sometimes 8 who ordered these in a 6 who said they fit well so it seems like a size up would be too big.Returned!

Only booties I will and have ever used for surfing. Great feel underfoot and no danger from reef or rock hopping. Looks very barney in the summer, I know.
