Durable, Easy to Use, Amazing Value
Everything in the pictures was cut with this saw.I have owned this saw now for 18 months. I have used it for 100s of hours on scores of projects. This is the only scrollsaw I have ever owned, and over the past year and a half I have enjoyed getting to know this machine better and growing my skills to make more and more detailed designs.I recently made a set of 5, 100 piece puzzles as gifts for friends and family (see picture with some of the pieces). I also made some smaller puzzles. But I've done much more than just the pictured puzzles with my WEN scrollsaw. I've made tons of decorative seasonal items (a nativity, little Easter eggs, etc), toys for my kids (little animals), and little cutouts of movie characters that I gave to kids for Halloween. In October last year, I was repairing my garage ceiling, and needed thin wood shims to lower the drywall a little. I cut the shims to the exact width I needed using this saw (yes, this could be done with other saws, but all I've got besides this is a circular saw).We built custom shelving for our pantry and needed the shelves cut to a precise shape. Yep, you guessed it, my trusty WEN scrollsaw came to the rescue. I was replacing a closet rod and needed the new one cut to length. Do you know how hard it is to make it hold still while cutting with a circular saw?? Guess which saw I ended up using to cut the rod? WEN!My point is, this saw ended up being far more powerful and versatile than I ever imagined. It's stood the test of time, handled all sorts of materials, and keeps on chugging along.A few notes:- I use Olson Skip Tooth Pinless Saw blades. Pinless blades work great in this machine. Just use the included Allen Wrench to tighten the clamps down.- I ended up breaking one of my thumb screws because I was tightening it too much. I contacted Wen, and they sent me a new one. They also sent me a new clamp for the blade, since the broken screw was stuck in mine. Excellent customer service. I don't use the plastic part of the thumb screw anymore - just use the wrench - and I haven't had issues since.- The air pump doesn't blow much air because the bellows is a little too short. To fix this, I cut a thin rectangle of wood that fits on top of the upper arm of the saw. It sits between the bellows and the arm, and compresses the bellows when the arm moves. Now, the blower works great!- I have never tilted the table (always keep it at a right angle to the blade). I set the table stop right where I wanted it and it has never budged since. I check from time to time to make sure that it's still square, and it has stayed right where I put it.- Clamp the saw to the table while you use it (or use the included mounting holes to permanently mount it to a table). This cuts down on vibrations so much and really helps.- I recommend buying a "dead man" foot switch for use with this saw. That way you can control the blade movement on/off with your foot (kind of like a sewing machine). My foot pedal takes this saw to a whole new level! Before buying this saw I was skeptical as I had never heard of the WEN brand before, and was worried about getting a cheaply made saw. In the end, I went for it because I didn't want to spend 100s on another saw since I'd never even used a scrollsaw before. I am so glad that I trusted WEN because they delivered! This saw is my favorite tool.

Perfect for Detailed Cuts – Great for Beginners & Hobbyists
As someone who works on a lot of creative wood projects, I’m super impressed with the WEN 3922 16-Inch Variable Speed Scroll Saw. It’s been a total game-changer for my crafting setup, and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting a reliable scroll saw without breaking the bank.Easy to Use Right Out of the BoxThis scroll saw came nearly ready to go, which I appreciated. Setup was simple and took less than 20 minutes. The instructions were clear, and all the pieces felt solid and well-made.Smooth and Quiet OperationIt runs quietly and smoothly, even on thicker wood. The variable speed is super helpful—I can slow it down for delicate designs or speed it up for quicker straight cuts. The adjustable table also tilts for angled work, which has been really useful on my current projects.Tool-Free Blade Changes = Major WinBlade swaps are super simple thanks to the easy-access side panel. No extra tools needed—just open, change, and you’re back to cutting. This feature alone makes this saw stand out.Great for Intricate WorkI’ve used it on everything from signs to more detailed designs, and it handles curves like a dream. It’s got a nice balance between stability and flexibility, especially for smaller hands or beginners.Bonus Features I LoveThe built-in air pump keeps the cutting line clear of dust (very handy), and the cast iron base keeps it stable—no shaking or wobbling while working.Final Thoughts:If you’re getting into scroll work or just need something dependable for detailed wood projects, this one’s a winner. It’s affordable, efficient, and built to last. I honestly didn’t expect to love it this much, but here we are!

Much better than expected
Had to replace my 20 year old Delta scroll saw and took a chance on WEN after looking at half dozen major brands. They were all very fine units with lots of nice features. I only use my scroll saw to make router templates and don't make things like large intricate puzzles. Seems like I would be paying 2 - 3 times the WEN cost for features I would rarely use, if ever.My primary dislike is the on OFF switch which could be larger and possible even switched with the seed controll for safety. The table is small but that also means it takes less shop / storage space, so not a problem for the work I typically do. They recommend bolting it down but if you only pull it out when needed you will most likely just clamp it to your bench; this is not easy as they don't have any real mounting points for clamps. A hole i casting to house hex key wrench would also be nice. This would be a big improvement but would require a new casting design. Just a couple of simple improvements that would kick this machine up big time. The manual needs a little polishing for beginners IMHO but a second read made a couple of gray areas a little clearer. Still not sure what the second step of adjustment was trying to accomplish as the sixth step seems to do the same thing and it didn't even need any adjustmentWhat has impressed me about the WEN has been the easy adjustment setup, the unit is quiet, the dust blower works well, and the blade mounting system is a big improvement over my old saw. I can work around all the missing feature that might be available on the high end name brands.Overall very pleased with purchase and the $300 saved can go into clamps and router bits.

Great hobbiest item
Well constructed. Owners manual was comprehensive and informative. I turned the unit on and it was relatively quiet and vibration free. Priced right. I see no need to purchase the one with the light.

Wow!
A great scroll saw for the money. It runs quietly and I like the variable speed. It blows dust off the cutting area and tilts for angled cuts. Blade changes -- pinned and unpinned -- are fast and easy. It you can see it, you can saw it! And it cuts up to 2" wood.
