Award winning author just keeps them coming.
Excitement, great stories, with great and believable characters. This is the 6th book in the series and it still fresh, adventurous and frequently terrifying. Well written, smooth reading but written for a thinking person. If you like wildlife, adventure, mystery, light romance and law and order, these books are the best.

In Plain Sight : My first trip down a rough river; what a ride!!
I have been devouring C.J. Box's "Joe Pickett" novels like crazy! In this particular novel Mr. Box goes for broke in the telling of a story about an old ranching family that established a vast empire consisting of thousands of acres of land in the 1800 hundreds. The story begins unfolding in the present-day generation of three brothers, heirs of this huge empire of wealth, in a pasture and engaged in a deadly fight with each swinging shovels in an angry, violent, family fight. Nothing new to the local ranchers and citizens of Saddlestring, Wyoming. One brother who is the eldest and also an elected official of the state government, is the most dishonest, greediest and conniving of all. After their mother is reported missing by the family a search for her begins. It seems she has disappeared into thin air.Joe Pickett is sent by his new director, Randy Pope, who has a strong build-up of animosity towards Joe to investigate into an alleged tip about Hank, one of the brothers, that his home is full of illegal trophies. The trouble for Joe begins instantly with the uncooperative Sheriff Kyle McLanahan and his dept.A killer comes to Saddlestring to settle old scores which happen to also include Joe and his entire family. He is a man from the past who is ruthless and who instigates himself wherever he can to do his dirty work "in plain sight". He begins by terrorizing Joe's family and also the kidnapping of his two daughters. From here on out this story becomes extremely harrowing when Joe and good friend Nate Romanowski start the search for the girls. It will keep you turning pages and biting fingernails as the two friends commence a journey down a wild river during a terrible flood. This is one of Mr. Box's best novels. His writing is so vivid that you can almost feel the currents of the river carry you along for the ride. I highly recommend this book, however it is not for the faint-hearted. It's quite graphic in the crime category. But buy the book, it's great.

Are you kidding me
I didn’t think this series could get any better. But I was wrong. The book is riveting with so many twists and turns, and the ending is astounding.

Action Filled With Surprise!
I have loved reading C. J. Box's Joe Pickett series. As you read each book the reader grows with the Pickett family. This particular book is so well written that I could not put the book down. Wow! The action and events surprised me to the last page. I look forward to the next adventure.

Joe Pickett Amazing as Ever
This was only number 6, but I found myself tired of Joe being dissed by virtually everyone; it happens in every book so far in the series. Here he was also badly beaten up and his family was repeatedly terrorized. But just as I was thinking that maybe I'd have to stop reading the series, things began to turn around, and THERE was the page-turner I'd come to know and love! Joe Picket is such a good guy, but he's also smart and tenacious and loyal to a fault. The second half of this novel was terrific and there were a few surprises thrown in, too. I was so into it that, when it was finished, I actually read the preview first few chapters of the next in the series that usually follows most of these stories on Kindle. I NEVER do that, as a rule, because I'd rather start the next one when I'm good and ready, but this time I was really into it and needed to see what was going to happen next. Needless to say, #7, Free Fire, is now on my Kindle. That's not to say that the ending of In Plain Sight was a cliffhanger. No, it was not; all loose ends were tied up and the ending was satisfying, as always. C.J. Box is fast becoming one of my favorites!

Old Grievances and New Bosses
Joe Pickett and his family have an enemy they never even met, but he knows them and he’s out for revenge. To make matters worse Joe has an old nemesis put in charge of being Joe’s supervisor, so absolutely nothing is getting done in Twelve Sleep without a ton of bureaucracy.Opal Scarlett pushed someone using the public waterway across their land just a little too hard and got tossed into the river and her body hasn’t turned up. The worst part about that is that the remaining Scarlett brothers are at each other’s throats and dividing the town’s loyalties. Unfortunately Sheridan’s best friend at the moment happens to be Julie Scarlett and Sheridan has been wanting to have a sleep over, but without Opal there it just makes Joe nervous. The new guy in town is working for the Scarlett’s and seemingly playing them off of each other just like Opal once did, and he’s more dangerous than anyone realizes. Where’s Nate when Joe needs him? This is a five star thriller that I couldn’t put down until I was through.

In plain sight!!
The Joe Pickett series continues to get more and more intriguing!!!! This Character is right up there with The Characters of The Fly Fishing Mysteries I’ve read, as they all have one thing in common, and that is “ Fantastic and Bigger Than Life”.

Great reading
When I started the first 2 or 3 books of Joe Pickett's books, I was a little bit bored with the long description narrative, but then action over narrative took over and now I'm reading the 11th one "Cold Wind". I like series because you get into the characters and you just will not be deceived with Joe Pickett, he's really a lovable husband, dad, investigator, ranger and good friend. Good reading. A good read
C.J. Box has created a very likable hero in the character of Joe Picket. He's dedicated to his job, is incorruptible and will do anything to protect his family. The backdrop of wild, rugged country adds atmosphere to this excellent series.

IN PLAIN SITE
This is some book. Absolutely riveting. Only now and again do you follow a story with such impact on the lives of its characters. Filled to the brim, page by page, C.J.Box takes the reader on a roller coaster. The final chapter is a steam roller. Great Stuff.
