Godinger Crystal Globe On Stand

I recently purchased this item through Amazon. The globe arrived in about 3 days, I was thrilled! I bought this item for a very special friend, he loves to travel the world...so I was thinking this would be the perfect keepsake. My friend absolutely loved it! The piece is just the right size to display on a desk, table or any place you desire. The crystal is nice and heavy and fits on the stand quite nicely. If you like you can spin the globe with your hand. I'm so happy with my purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone. I love it:))

It's right here, right now, just above my keyboard. Sweet! You can spin it and pretend that's "where in the world" you want to go, well, ok, it does stop in the ocean quite a bit. I don't want to go to the middle of any ocean ... I read Moby Dick, I saw Jaws, no thanks. But when it stops spinning and lands on Sweden/Finland/Norway, oh my, think of all of the blonde women that await, full figured, warm, and cuddlely for those long winters, plus she's able to chop wood like a beaver :-) Or Brazil, where everyone is dark, tanned, and dancing while bringing me fresh cool lemonade. Or Britain, with those accents, and she can read Harry Potter aloud with my head in her lap as I fall asleep. As you can see it's much more than a "crystal globe on a stand". To top it off, it makes this "squeaky" like noise when you spin it. Much better than sliced bread, which is hard to spin and doesn't look anything like planet earth. Although, once I did have some toast with Alfred Hitchcock's face on it ... I swear ... way too spooky to smear jam on it.

After reading the reviews on this I decided to take a chance. It's true the globe is a good size. The box says it is 4" in diameter. The base is nice with a dimple that the globe sits in. My only complaint is that Ireland and Great Britain are just a small smudge, no definition whatsoever. I don't know if my globe is defective or if the size doesn't allow better details. Ironic since the stand has a sticker on it saying it's an Irish design. I'm not going to return it because it's a small problem and I like the globe otherwise.

I bought this as a gift for a professor, and I was impressed with the quality of it when I received it. It's very heavy, which gives the impression that it's very expensive and fancy. The only issue I have with it is that there seems to be some coating of dust or something covering it, probabl left-over from whatever etching process is used to create the design. Because of this, when you touch it with your hands, it leaves some noticeable prints on the design, so you have to be really careful. But, it's super cheap, so it's still a great deal.

I've purchased two of these, and both were beautiful. They arrive in a heavy presentation box, and make a wonderful gift. I gave the most recent purchase to a grandson when he graduated from WSU, cum laude. I gave it with a card (Papercraft Pop-Up 3D Greeting Cards Bon Voyage) and inscribed it - "You're launched! Now get out there and see the world!" Since he had admired the Godinger globe I have on display in my house, I knew he'd like to have one of his own. It was a hit!

this is a knockoff of the genuine Godinger Globe. the size and quality is not the same. buyers beware !!!

Really a nice piece. I didn't realize that it was actually 2 pieces bc the description says it's mounted on the stand (I think of something attached to the object it is mounted to) but it is actually much cooler bc it "floats" on the base and can actually be twirled around on the base. Has a great weight and is really a quality piece. I didn't know what to expect when it was 90% off of the retail price but it is well worth the $15!

I bought several globes from different sites but they all were very small. So I naturally assumed that this globe would also be small. I was surprised that to find that it was a nice size and weight, and made for a very much appreciated gift to my husband. I will definitely order this globe again because it is beautiful and the price is very reasonable!

Product is excellent, very well made and great detail. Would have rated a 5 if the gift box hadn't been damaged. The damage did not occur from the mail.
