just about everything that makes the difference between a so-so dish and a really nicely balanced one
Several years ago, I took off half of a thumb using a cheap plastic mandoline. I said I'd never use one again. Well, this isn't exactly a mandoline because it doesn't make all the fancy cuts--but I find that I don't need the fancy cutting blades. I'm mostly interested in getting paper thin shavings of cheese, radishes, onions, shallots, cucumbers, Napa cabbage, potatoes...just about everything that makes the difference between a so-so dish and a really nicely balanced one. I've used it almost every day, and now I am fearless. Great product (as are all Kuhn Rikon products), easy to adjust, easy to clean. Perfect.

Re Kuhn Rikon Adjustable Mandoline, Stainless Steel - slices not thick enough.
I can't figure out if I got a defective one. It seems to do very thin slices only - not useful. The blade guard retracts as you turn a hand screw, which sets the slice width. But the blade guard does not retract all the way to follow the screw setting but stops as if the spring posts holding it have taken a set. If it followed the screw setting all the way, the slice width would be at least a quarter inch - which would be useful. Perhaps I should return for an exchange. Does anyone have experience with these things to comment on the maximum slice width possible?Otherwise it seems very well made and would get 5 stars if it sliced thicker.

Great for small jobs
Love this little kitchen helper. It’s great for small jobs and can be stored easily. Glad I have it.

Perfect, paper thin to 1/8” slices of veggies, hard cheese, garlic cloves.
This is the best thing I have bought in ages. Use it all the time, every salad, sandwich, and many recipes. It lives on my drainboard, I rinse it and use it again before it could be put in its drawer. Also very sharp and sturdy.

Kuhn Rikon Mandoline
I purchased this one to replace previous Kuhn Rikon Mandoline. I was some surprised that it was almost 1/2 the size of original. This should be listed as a mini. It cuts well and I kept it as I needed it, however was disappointed in size. Will need to try other brands to replace it.

Simply quality.
The quality of every product from Kuhn Rikon is exceptional. The mandolin is simple to use and produces uniform slices which can be made thick or thin with the simple adjustable thumb screw.

This replaced an earlier one of Kuhn Rikon which did not have an adjustable blade which this one has. However it has a problem that the single blade one didn,t have. The sliced veg gets stuck between the blade and the adjustable part, which is irritating, and removing it means you get very near the blade. It does the same job, just not as well. Hence 4 stars. I couldn't find the single blade one advertised anywhere.

This mandolin slicer is in my opinion a toy and has no room in a kitchen
I both this item for my kitchen, (the name Kuhn/Rikon is a great name in my old country). We use lots of sliced vegetable for our daily meals. But this slicer is so tiny you can only slice a small amount of cabbage or only small sized onions etc. Is not a great buy for the amount of money you pay for it. Would not recommend!
