Excellent performance and difficult to match for its price.
The lens is smaller than what can be seen in the photos, and I liked that. It is very well built, completely in metal, it feels solid. The focus ring is soft, not very loose which is preferable and has a fair travel. The image in the center is very sharp, much more than my Nikkor 28mm f3.5, I only appreciate distortion on the side edges, which does not bother me too much. The colors with the fujifilm xe1 are incredible and for its price it is difficult to match its performance. There has only been one problem and that is that from time to time the screen presents an error, it starts to flicker, which when removing the lens disappears, I suppose it has to do with the contacts on the body. however I am very happy with the purchase.

Awesome lens with one flaw
For the price I don’t think you can beat this lens. It’s extremely sharp, nice and compact and has beautiful bokeh. The focus is smooth and stays for now ,not to sure how reliable that will be over time tho. The one noticeable downside is the aperture ring. It moves quit easy inadvertently. Pretty much everytime I used the lens I would set it at f1.8 and after a few shots i’d look at the aperture and noticed it had moved to f2 or 2.8. I wish Pergear would have done a better job at dampening the aperture ring. It also seems like the lens hood was an afterthought, because it wasn’t wrapped in the box with the lens it was attached wrapped around the box in bubble wrap.

First Impressions
This is a preliminary, first impressions review.Build:This is a compact yet solidly built lens. It is an all metal body and feels durable. The first photo is a shot of what it looks like on the Xpro2. It is simplistic and has a vintage look. The manual focus ring is smooth with good tension and hard stops at both ends. The aperture ring is smooth and clickless. I understand that this is preferable among videographers and maybe some photographers. However, I’d be better suited if it had a clicking aperture ring. When using a third party lens that doesn’t feed aperture setting information to the camera, I would find it helpful to be able to count the clicks in my head instead of having to pull the camera away to see what aperture I’m on. This is probably my biggest gripe at this point with the lens, albeit a mere preference. It comes with a vented lens hood. While it’s hard to complain about a bonus item, I will say that I would rather it not have a large “43mm” printed directly on the side of it. When you screw the hood on, it puts the “43mm” visible for all to see. Not a huge deal, but I’d rather it not have any visible writing on it. I’ll probably paint it or something.Performance:This lens has impressed me thus far. The second and third photos below are a comparison of sharpness at f1.8 vs f5.6. The photos are taken at the minimum focus distance as that can be a weak point for lenses.Other than the exposure, nothing else was changed between each photo. They are sooc. So no sharpening was added in post. The focal point is the word “Lens” on the lens pictured. As you can see, the lens is considerably sharp in the center wide open. It’s almost if not as sharp as it is stopped down to a mid range of f5.6.The photos attached, having a lighter boundary to not expose the heavy vignetting on this lens. It is undeniable at wide apertures and levels out a little by f4. Vignetting is not a personal bother for me. If it is for you, that could be an issue you’d have with this lens. Honestly, it’s likely an issue for most wider lenses with fast apertures— especially ones in this price range.Value:Keep in mind that this is a $69 lens.Is it sharp and bright corner to corner? No.However, if center sharpness is what matters to you, if vignetting isn’t a bother and you prefer a manual and vintage experience— this is a good value.Overall, I am happy with the purchase. I considered a 4 star rating because the lens is definitely not perfect. With value factored in, it’s difficult to deny this thing a top rating.

ALMOST what I've been looking for, but not quite
I'll start with this: pergear's 25mm is a pretty good option for someone new to photography or a new camera system who's been looking for an inexpensive, tiny, solid, sharp, medium-wide focal length lens to throw in their bag or keep fastened to their camera at all times. if that's you, grab one.BUT... it has some disappointing flaws that might be enough to sour the experience for some.PROS:- so tiny! it's eminently pocketable and very discreet when mounted.- focus stays where you put it! that really shouldn't be a thing to have to call out, but a lot of these inexpensive 25mm f1.8 lenses suffer from a very strange phenomenon that causes the plane of focus to continue to drift along even after you stop turning the focus ring, and also shift dramatically if you jostle the lens front to back. I've found this issue on all copies of the lenses from 7artisans, Hengyijiya, and other brands of similar construction, and it results in very imprecise focusing on the fly and completely unpredictable pre-focus and zone focus experiences.- sharp in the center! it's at least as sharp as the 7a 25mm and way sharper than the Meike which is exactly what i was hoping for.- well-damped rings and solid construction! the lens feels way more premium than you'd expect at this price, and both the focus and aperture rings on my copy turn smoothly and surely, with no looseness in the fit of the parts.CONS:- this lens is definitely not f1.8! when i was comparing my copy of this lens to my 7a 25mm, i noticed that the camera was picking slower shutter speeds with the pergear to get the same exposure. just to verify, i tested it against Fuji's 23mm set to f1.8. both images were shot at ISO 200 and 1/500th of a second. the results from the pergear were almost a full stop darker in the center, and way more in the corners due to the vignetting. which brings me to...- vignetting! this is either a pro or a con depending on your aesthetic preferences, but i put it here because it is SO dramatic wide open, it almost crosses my personal threshold. in certain circumstances, it looks really terrific, and when you stop down, it all but vanishes, but it's still worth noting.- there's no hard stop at infinity! this was one of my two major problems with the Meike 25mm as well. the lens focus ring mark lines up with the ft/m mark instead of the infinity mark. and it isn't useful to just think of that mark as infinity, because actual infinity isn't even accurately reached at the infinity mark. ACTUAL infinity appears to be just a hair to the left of the mark on my copy. only a huge deal if you want to accurately pre-focus or zone focus, but again, worth noting.- the meter marks are off! feet marks seem to be measured out with fair accuracy, but if you prefer thinking about your distances in meters, the marks will let you down. you can see in the images that the 3 meter mark (about 9ft 10in) sits just a little AFTER 10ft, and 1.5 meters (about 4ft 11in) sits dead between 5ft and 7ft. things start to fall into place when you get closer than 1 meter, which sits roughly where it should, just after 3ft. disappointing, because it seems like an easy thing to check and get right, even at this price point.all that said, it's a compact, solidly built, reasonably fast medium wide manual lens with above average sharpness for under 70 bucks. I'm on the fence about keeping it, because it doesn't QUITE tick all the boxes i was hoping it would, but i still think it's a great deal for folks who can live with its quirks.

Difetti in secondo piano.

Get it, don't be deceived by the low price.
Great vintage feel, of handling and image.Bokeh is not as buttery as Nikkor 35mm f2.0 adapted via focal reducer.. but its 1/3 of the size , 1/2 the cost, and 80% of the look.Perfect compact effective 35mm (40mm really). Close focus of approx 30cm. Plenty sharp wide open. Built very well, everything is smooth and tight. Glass is coated. Full fo character. Not surgically perfect, but has a nice lens signature.

Fabuleux

A surprisingly great little lens for the money!
This is a surprising little find. The manual focus is silky smooth, on an xt4 it renders black and white beautifully, lovely roll off into the shadows, sharp in the centre, touch soft at the edges but that’s to be expected at this price point, and of course the cliche of all cliches but the bokeh is genuinely fantastic, no swirlies yet. You’ll want to use focus peaking with this lens, which works incredibly well with this particular lens. I suspect many hours of fun in the streets putting this lens through its paces.
