At last a reliable writer for now
I have gone through 2 of these budget price rewriters, since I lost my normal internal SATA dvd drive. I burn a lot of videos, and been disappointed with the last two that stopped my new windows 10 computer from even working.Fortunately this ones been manufactured at a better quality. Started working right away with no lock up of computer. It is a little more robust, but drawer is far too flimsy and has to be used like eggs. I may make its own storage box for it, so it doesnt get knocked or dust infiltration, however the lead is far too short, to be able to do much with it. I still cant get 16 x write , only 8 x which makes a disc of 4gb of data take double the time to write. As a semi commercial copier for a charity, Im dubious whether this will last any longer than the others.I burn 25 DVD -R a week and 10 Audio CDs. So 35 a week is about my normal. I can not think of any way to boost the speed, other than have a computer dealer, scrap the plastic case I have and fit everything into a proper box with runners and blank panels to fit in my SATA DVD rewriter that was only 8 months old, when changed to windows 10. Why these cases do not have the drawers to slide in new devices is beyond me??? Otherwise good value and so far writes as good as a SATA , just far too slowly.

It's worth it for the funny instructions.
The instructions have some hilarious errors such as my favorite: "See Instructions bellowing" and "please check the bellowing ways to eject the disc" I tried shouting at it but it did not work so read the instructions below.I was looking for a branded product but couldn't find one so vouched for this one. It was to replace a cheaper product by Rioddas that was useless and frustrating. This drive was very good. It was quiet and responded quickly. I had no issues with it and it all worked fine. It also comes in a smart black and red case - which was an unexpected surprise. It does not work on an iPad. The instructions tell us that "it is vulnerable to squeeze place" - so be very careful!!!Unlike the Rioddas it does not require any "bellowing". It does the job.

Pay a bit more for it
I had got another one before and it was not as easy to use. this one you can use it any time and it works.Only trouble was was what disc's I had would not work at all. Thou they was from along time ago.

Worse than useless
Where to start? It doesn't seem to be recognised by a macbook pro, then if you select it in iTunes to burn you can see it, only it doesn't burn anything it just swallows a disc and then makes your drive run ridiculously slowly. The only way you can eject the stuck disc is to restart, which only solves the issue half the time, but now the SSD is running so slowly the process to eject a disc can take an hour. The hilariously bad instructions contain a litany of daft troubleshooting excuses that immediately make you think "why would a new product that is supposed to work out of the box have so many possible issues?"The answer of course is you get what you pay for. In this case, a large and fulsome headache.Ultimately this is about Apple of course, their ongoing campaign to fleece everyone with their olympian efforts to make all their products obsolete about a year after buying them.Basically I am fuming. My own fault for buying cheap crapola. I'm not even going to ask for my money back, I deserve to take the hit.

More robust than others. Great for Windows 10
I was pleased to find that this drive is a little thicker than other external DVD players. Also the cable was fitted rather than plugged-in. Two of my previous external devices have failed because of poor plug / socket led to disconnection with only the so slightest of movement on cable or desk.Comes with full size USB-3 plug and adapter for USB-C.Does work with USB-2 but buffers occasionally. It is not silent but quieter than the slimmer drives. As usual, simple plug 'n' play. Does not come with DVD player software so you may need to download AnyDrive or similar (free) to play DVD's on your PC.Didn't work on iPad but I am sure Apple can flease you a few hundred pounds more for their own, probably inferior, product that will do the same job at least until they change their plugs & sockets again.Highly recommend for PC / Laptop with Win 7 -10.

noisy DVD player
Bought the last iMac 2024, alas, the portable dvd player from the former iMac did not work, (thanks very much Apple), the reason I bought this one, which works well and is compatible with my new iMac 2024, this player is just very noisy
