Wippermann Connex Chain 9SB Optimal Corrosion Protection 9Speed - Black

This chain is garbage!! The connex link is a bad design that skips on the smallest cassette gear because it's too big to wrap around the 11-tooth cog. Then the connex link bent so i bought a new link for $15...still skips on 11-tooth cog. Black started to wear off around 50 miles. Chain snapped on the mountain at 1.5 months (200 miles). I contacted Zee Germans @ Wipperman two weeks ago via email and no reply as of yet...stay away from this chain.

This is an excellent chain that shifts very well in my experience. I could not duplicate the problem mentioned by the other poster regarding the master link. I ran the link on my smallest cog, an 11T, and it did just fine. That said, I wasn't very comfortable with the link because it was too easy to disengage. I am using a Master Link III that I've finally got around to using after having it sit for 20 years in my loose parts bin.I will buy another one of these chains when I replace my next chain.UPDATE 23-Jan-2015: I decided that I was mistaken about the Connex link and have started to use it. I don't think there will be any problems with it if it's properly connected in the first place.UPDATE 15-Mar-2015: This chain required some adjustments of the front derailleur to obtain the quality of shifting I require. I am now getting very reliable shifting on both the chainrings and the Ultegra CS-6500 9spd cassette.

Just installed the chain on my Trek mtb. Went for a long ride and had absolutely no problems what so ever. In fact, it made my whole 9 speed drive train function perfectly. I'm not sure what happened with the first reviewer because none of that is happening to my bike and im using the master link that came with the Connex chain. I will absolutely buy this chain again. It works great and it looks damn good doing it!
