A blast from the past!
I spent many years reading only Harlequin or Silhouette romances. Carole Mortimer was one of my most favorite authors. Then I discovered a whole world of romance novels beyond those narrow boundaries about 3 years ago. And a year later I got a Kindle. I left Harlequin and Silhouette behind, and rarely gave them a thought. So imagine my surprise when a Carole Mortimer romance popped up as a Kindle offering. I snapped it up, of course. This book is about Mia and Ethan, who'd gotten together 5 years before, and had lived together for 3 months. Then Mia's mother commits suicide and her father announces that he's in love with Ethan's widowed mother. Certain that her mother's suicide was a result of her father's affair, Mia disappears. She's also convinced that Ethan was somehow guilty as well. Five years later, Ethan tracks her down and insists that she sees her father. Her father quickly manages to convince her that she had it wrong, but she and Ethan continue to misunderstand each other. Two months pass before they finally admit they love each other and always have. By this time, Mia is 2 months pregnant.

Sometimes Less Is More
This had the potential to be a really good book, but it was bogged down by some classic "rookie" errors, in my opinion.First off, there was entirely too much unnecessary miscommunication. Too many interruptions that led to things that might have been solved by a five minute conversations. That led to the second problem: too much angst. I'd be surprised to discover their cortisol levels were normal. The two protagonists were in constant fight or flight mode. Very tiring to read about. And finally, less is sometimes more. There were so many overused exclamation points, it turned what should have been mature dialogue into a caricature. No one talks like that.I expect better from someone of Ms. Mortimer's caliber.

Another One On My Re-Read List
I'm always on the look-out for any new work by Carole Mortimer. She is one among my favorites, alongside Anne Mather, Sara Craven & Robyn Donald. This too did not disappoint!

very cute
There were quite a few times that the description were too long but overall the story, characters, sex and romance were perfect. Very enjoyable reading.

Excellent book but too many typos
An excellent story. A strong heroine. She made a decision and stuck to it as long as possible. I applaud her efforts to take charge of her life and protect herself. Many heroines are portrayed as weak-willed and easily persuaded - often victims of the hero. We usually have to find ways to redeem an often abusive (at least verbally) hero. Not true in this story. All of the players in this novel were victims of circumstance so the HEA was well deserved. My only concern about this ebook was the amount of spelling errors. To read a book by an accomplished writer with so many errors is truly untenable. Harlequin should be thoroughly embarrassed. I'm tempted to request a refund. I would have rated this book 5 stars (and I don't hand out 5 stars lightly) if not for the numerous typos.
