Isle Of Lewis Chess Set - Stone Resin - 2.75 Inch King - 4 Queen Edition

I have always wanted a Lewis chess set with the Berserker Warder / Castle (some replicas have equally authentic, but less mad pieces) and this delivers. Nicely finished, feel solid. Note that although the pieces are smaller than the originals, they really need a fairly large board with squares at least 4cm square, preferably 5cm or more. (nb the set comes in individual bubble wraps in a cardboard box, so you will need a permanent container).

I got this set for my son's 10th birthday. He was absolutely delighted with it. The pieces have a nice weight to them and do not feel fragile. Though he insists on keeping them in their bubble wrap when he is not playing with them. He loved the little booklet and polishing cloth that came with them also, and it encourages him to care for them.Very prompt delivery. Which was greatly appreciated as the Amazon site had given the date for the expected delivery for after his birthday.They were well wrapped for delivery. Overall very happy.Thank you.

When they say this set is detailed they aren’t kidding, each piece is almost a work of art in its own right.For the person where space is at a bit of a premium this mid sized set is a real boon, fitting as it does on a 15.75” (40mm) board with ease .The pieces have a good weight to them and are felted on the bottom, yet never become tiring or heavy.The real bonus for me is the fact that even though they’re a relatively cheaper set they still feature Berserker Rooks (castles), I’ve always wanted the Berserkers and you get an additional 2 queens as well! Delivery was fast, ordered late on the 17th and delivered on the 19th august and though well packed I would recommend buying a chess piece box for them, I bought the mahogany box that fits a 3.75” king and is 24 cm x 15 cm x 8.5 cm from this site at £39.99, its a good buy. As for a board? Any board 15.75” or larger will do though if you’re getting a board with squares over 2 inches in size it might be worth looking at the set of full size Lewis chessmen.One note of warning, don’t bother with the tiny miniature Lewis chessmen sets, the pieces have no weight to them, are of inferior quality, and love falling over. I returned mine and got these instead.

Very happy with my purchase & the experience with this seller. The pieces arrived 2 days before the estimated delivery date (expected the 19th & arrived on the 17th, after ordering on the 15th!), by DPD so I am very happy with that as they are for Christmas! The pieces were packaged very carefully (each individually wrapped with packing peanuts all around the box & each one looks amazing! My son will be very happy with them. They don't have a designated box that they can be stored in as they all come wrapped separately & safely but based on other reviews this was expected & I think we'll have it set up on display anyways!
