This device is really good. I got two for my elderly parents after plenty of research. During the research I learned that the sound quality of conventional hearing aids like ear buds can be very difficult to get used to and they are hard to adjust. In the conventional hearing aids with ear buds the microphone and speaker are so close they can produce a feedback loop that results in a high pitch whining sound. In contrast, this device I got for my parents does not have any of those drawbacks. The microphone is away from the ear so there is never any whistling sound. I tried them myself and the quality of sound is excellent, crisp, clear with no distortions. They amplify the voice of other people, of music or the TV. Now I don’t have to raise my voice or repeat what I say because my parents can hear me clearly; they don’t have to turn the volume high on the TV either. It’s all back to normal like when we visited when they were younger. The device is simple and easy to use, which is quite important for the elderly; it is very intuitive: plug the headset, turn the device on, make sure the setting is to pick up sound from the microphone and adjust the volume if necessary. I highly recommend them. They are new so I don’t know anything about durability yet.

Poor design

item works well , but picks up TOOO much background noise especially high pitched sounds ! ! It can blast eardrums hard at times ! Wish it had a 'squelch' control like old radios and music amplifiers ! Microphone is a bit TOO sensitive as just moving the amplifier in my pocket or touching the headset cord can make exceisive noise ! ! ! Seems this is a typical complaint of most units like this ! . . . Manufacturer take a lil hint make your unit better then others , add the squelch control and be the best ! ! !

Makes the speech of another person across a room clearer and louder. Turning the treble (high frequency amplification) down helps me.Avoid touching the case or mic as this creates a loud bothersome noise. The amp does amplify ambient noise, but seems to be optimized for frequencies most produced by speech.Helps hearing TV or radio as well. Directly connected or Bluetooth headphones are a better alternative for these listening situations.Has other adjustments like balance that are saved when device is off. It's also good that it runs on two common, inexpensive AA cells. No need for expensive hearing aid batteries. Claims up to 150 hours run time from one set of batteries.Standard 3.5 mm (1/8" plug) allows you to use headphones you prefer.So many people wear headphones or ear buds today that most folks won't notice the headphones/ear buds from this device.Recommended.

Like the size, layout. Did not like the audio quality

If you have issues hearing and don't want to wear a hearing aid, this device is perfect. It's simple and easy to use and works great at amplifying speech surrounding you. I like the idea of this so you can choose to wear it for better hearing. It's compact but the buttons are easy to see and it's built well. I think since it's so simple it's going to have a longer lifespan as I find devices with too many features break easier. Highly recommend buying this reasonably priced amplifier, it will help you stay in the game.

Too much interference. I am not sure that l have the settings right. Should have returned before the return expired!!! Kept hoping I could get the right settings. I'm 76 yrs old!

I liked the fact that the product worked. It has a nice range of loudness to work with and for most people it is easy to use. Unfortunately I bought it for my 90 year old father and he couldn't remember which buttons to use so it wasn't working for him, thus I returned it. If I ever need such a device I will relook into this product.
