Watercolor with Me in the Jungle

I liked Watercolor with Me in the Forest so purchased this one and In the ocean!
First, the pictures I uploaded are from In the Forest, that was a gift to me. I hope it's ok that I uploaded these as it is all copyrighted. (If not, let me know and I will remove them) I haven't started In the Ocean or In the Jungle yet as I am still working on In the Forest which I am loving. The set up and instructions are in the same format as In the Forest. I use these as warm ups each day to get me loosened up. Her directions are wonderful and easy to follow. The paper in the book is really easy to use with watercolors! It is fun and great practice and you are learning new skills! And it is a confidence builder! I can do it!

Perfect for beginners
This is the third book I’ve purchased in this series of watercolor books. The lessons start out easy and get more advanced as you get through the book. The book is printed on watercolor paper. A few different watercolor techniques are taught in the lessons, for example, wet on wet vs wet on dry. Each lesson has two pictures. The first one is already painted and an example of each color used is under the picture so you can match your colors to it. There is also instructions on this page that tell you which color to use first and if you should be using a lot of water or a little, etc. The other page has the drawing on it and it’s ready to be painted. This one focuses on jungle plants, animals and a few landscape pictures. My favorite book is her ocean themed one but this one was a good one too.

A lot of fun, but has some bad advice and difficulties
I use these books when I was just starting out water coloring, and pulled them back out recently. Now that I have a couple of years of experience with it, I can say that, although they are a lot of fun, and definitely encourage you to work with watercolors, they also have some advice that will turn into bad habits and some challenges. Two of the big challenges are, first, the paper is very heavily textured, more like hot press than cold press. This makes sharp lines and fine details quite difficult. It’s also prone to bleeding, which can make boundaries between colors hard to keep crisp. Second, the usual advice for watercolors is to start by painting light colors, and then move on to dark. This makes it a lot easier to control where your dark colors end up. The instructions for a lot of the images ignore this advice, and it does make it harder. As other reviewers have noted, the colors for the sample images often don’t match the instructions, so if you want to make it, look like the pictures you off and have to be a little bit creative with your pallete. The sample images were, I think, painted larger and reduced for reproduction, which is fine, but getting the same level of fine detail on the small sketches is challenging, and could be frustrating if you don’t realize that’s what the difference is.Despite all these problems, the books are fun, and they are a good way to practice water coloring on days that you don’t feel like being super creative but you still feel like getting some painting in. Just be aware that some of the instructions don’t instill the best habits.

Paper quality is not like her other books
Very disappointed in the quality of this paper compared to the other books in the series. The water bleeds through to the other side and leaves blotchy, mottled paint... I don't think wet on wet is possible with this book, even though that's what half the book claims to be. Still a fun and relaxing practice book for those of us not quite comfortable with drawing yet.

me gustó

Also Achtung. Im Buch selbst kann man nicht gut malen. Trotzdem empfehle ich das Buch Fans von den ersten zwei Büchern.
