Lanyard pulls out of the monopod.
The items works well except for the lanyard. While diving with the item, which is an example from their website, the lanyard detached from the bottom of the monopod. The "Plug" with the lanyard actually came out of the bottom of the pod. You combine this with the need to tether the camera to the pole and it makes this item an exceptional way to lose an expensive Gopro. My buddy lost his monopod and Gopro 3 Black when the Lanyard pulled out of the bottom of the pod. The camera and quikpod went to the bottom. The lanyard and Plug remained attached to his wrist. The manufacturer said it was my buddies fault for using the lanyard in the first place.I think this is a great idea, it is just not ready for scuba diving in it's current state.

because of its claim that it works best underwater. Well
I bought this just a few months ago and used it on a couple of diving trips. I bought this, particularly, because of its claim that it works best underwater. Well, just yesterday, when I was trying to loosen it up to fit my new Go Pro, the plastic holding the camera snapped into 2. I have no idea now what to do with it. It would be too expensive to return it for replacement, and I have no clue whether or not I can have them ship just that spare part that holds the camera. What a let down.

Lanyard design very poor
For an item that is advertised for use with scuba, this product is not up to the challenge. The lanyard will pull out of the buttom with very little force. There may be a way to rig the lanyard so it doesn't separate, but combining that with the need to tether the camera and you have a product that is in need of redesign. You shouldn't need aftermarket additions to make the thing work correctly. Also, customer service is non-existent and will blame the distributor or customer for any issues with the product, never accepting responsibility for their own poor design.

piece of junk!
Too thin and flimsy. Bottom threaded hole is useless. The disk with the hole easily comes off the pole. The quick release is a nuisance. You have to be very sure every time that it clicked on. First time I used it the quick release fell off with my camera hitting the cement floor and fatally damaged my $300 lens. Also, it is way over prized. You can get much better ones with a fraction of the price. Xshot XSP2 at $30 is a much better choice. Quickpod DSLR is a decent one though.

Quikpod explorer II review
The product was exactly what I ordered and met my expectations. The quikpod is very light weight and portable. It works well for filming skiing or snowboarding.

What it has going for it - notching for the pole
I actually exchanged several emails with the founder/inventor of the product. Decent guy, but perhaps needs to rethink the importance on how to market this item...Based on research, this was the sole monopod that had a notch in the extension such that any top-heavy item wouldn't rotate the pole along its axis due to gravity.Having said that, the bottom cap is WEAK; I replaced it with some instamorph. Also, I lost the quik release widget and it costs ~$20 to ship it from the manufacturer...Wayne Fromm should throw in at least throw in 2-3 of them.
