Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Season Two, Volume One [DVD]

If we watched Power Rangers on Fox Kids 25-years ago, we will probably remember these episodes or they'd probably still seem pretty familiar years later. The beginning of Season 2 with the introduction of Lord Zedd seemed to be when the show was at it's peak in popularity. I will say this though, I prefer the Dino Zords over the Thunder Zords. I also thought, even as a kid that even though Lord Zedd's monsters were supposed to be superior to Rita's, more of Rita's monsters seemed to be a challenge to the Power Rangers. A lot of Zedd's monsters were taken down pretty easily. Even as a kid, I also preferred Tommy as the Green Ranger over White Ranger, along with Dragon Zord over Tiger Zord. One thing pretty much all of us agree on, are a lot of us prefer the original Power Rangers over their replacements, Rocky, Adam and Aisha. As a kid, I didn't know they left the show but I noticed Jason, Zach, and Trini stopped being in scenes in the newer episodes and had more minor rolls. I feel like the show started to go downhill after they were replaced. The show seemed to become less popular during the second half of Season 2, and I stopped watching the show altogether after the second season. It just lost it's appeal. It's nice to watch these episodes where we can remember when the show was popular, and see how good and yet how corny of a show it was, back when it was popular.

Season 2 of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers begins with Lord Zedd's ousting of Rita Repulsa after determining that she wasn't doing enough to combat the Power Rangers. Highlights of the first volume include Zedd's work to strip Tommy of his Green Ranger powers, Tommy becoming the White Ranger, and the replacement of the Red, Yellow, and Black Rangers. Along the way, Bulk and Skull work to discover the Rangers' identity and Zedd attempts to create his own evil Power Rangers. This season maintains some of the campiness of the first season, but the inclusion of Zedd and his machinations make for a more cohesive storyline and add a touch of seriousness. Overall, this first half of the second season is more consistently good than season one.

When i was little i use to have some of these episodes i never really saw the entire series of MMPR. Now That they have released them on dvd i am so ready to buy them all. They have had episodes i never seen and some that are my fav ex. (Two For One / Zedd Waves). For fans of MMPR and new young kids who never seen the orignal MMPR This is a must have and should be bough when you see it. The episodes are all in great condition and look brand new like they were just aired and not aired 20 years ago.

While White Ranger is posed in the center, Tommy Oliver still has his Green Ranger power for a good chunk of this Volume. The Green No More and White Light 2 part episodes are in this volume, Essentially the fall of the Green Ranger and the rise of the White Ranger to become the official leader of the Power Rangers, leaving Red Ranger to be a supporting role, as the actor didn't return for some reason to next season.

I finally have all the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes that I remember watching as a kid! Now, relive all the great episodes of where Tommy goes from the Green to the White Ranger and see him and Saba in action for the first time with some cool new Zords. Be sure to get Season 2 Volume 2 and Season 3 to see the whole adventures and those beyond!

The dvds and the episodes them selves are great.. just like I remember watching them as a kid, only clearer and with better visual quality. My only complaint is that the little plastic hinges on the plastic dvd holder piece (that the dvds are held to) inside the case were broken off and the plastic pieces were loose inside the box when i opened it. not sure if it was from UPS's shipping or what, but that kind of sucked. thankfully there dvds themselves are perfectly fine and worked as they should. all 26 episodes on the 3 dvd set are pretty good with the highlights being the 2 episode "White Light" arc, and the 3 episode " The Mutiny" arc. Lord Zed was a great villain and it's a shame he was made less evil because of parents complaining back in the 90's when it first aired.I highly recommend this Power Rangers dvd set.. and i plan on collecting the others as well.

Great show and one of my favorites in Power Rangers history. Every character had something special and that's what made the show so great. Great for the creators to end the green rangers and out of nowhere the white ranger. Great way to bring in Lord Zedd and make the show more advanced for the second season but, poor Rita.
