A disappointing record... that hooked me against my will.
I remember when this one came out, it wasn't what anyone had expected. Hearing that Howe & Hackett had formed a team, I think we were all looking forward to more instrumentals, and something a little more... um... elevated. Max Bacon was a poor choice to front the group, Geoffrey Downes' production was quite uncharacteristically muddled and awful, and for the vast majority of it you're left in the dark about which guitar work is Howe and which is Hackett. But with all those disappointments, the tunes did tend to hook me in, and (to my own shock) I put a lot of mileage on the record!Fast forward nearly 30 years and this thing really takes me back to those days. (Therefore, I freely admit, it's tough to judge the thing on its own merits without my nostalgia coloring my review. So take that as your caveat.)This remastering by the best darned record label in the biz seems to clear up the production that sounded so hideous on the 1986 vinyl. The additional live disc is stupendous! It's a chance to hear GTR in a more stripped-down fashion โ as they should have been on the studio stuff. Well worth the price!PS. The three extra tracks (the singe versions) do not sound like they are taken from the masters. Lots of hiss. Still, the remix of "The Hunter" is interesting.

Great CD re-release but MP3 buyer beware.
It's great to see this classic album re-released, and with a really nice packaging and liner notes. HOWEVER . . . for buyers that settle for purchasing the MP3 version instead of the actual discs, be prepared for disappointment. Although I purchased the CD set, I also engaged the auto-download using my Amazon Music player. What I discovered on my first play-through was that the song "Here I Wait" has problems. There are very brief dead spots at 2:32 and at 3:30, the result sounds like skips. BUT . . . when I listened to the CD version, the same song is fine -- no skips. When I manually ripped the CD to MP3's, there were no problems. So, this must be a case of Amazon having a bad MP3 source for this album.

Ahhhh glorious, cheesy 80s supergroups!!
Two aging progressive rock guitarists...a young gun studio drummer and experienced bassist with a singer who looks like heโs auditioning for Miami vice. The music is as one would expect but the two singles are classic MTV era cheesiness, and I mean that in the best possible way. And the king biscuit flower hour show is tacked on for good measure. Put this on and have the memories flood back.

Superior sound quality
The sound on this re-master is perfection. Itโs hard to believe that this cd stands the test of time. If you like yes or AsiaOr genesis, you will like this. If you are like me and appreciate the style of Steve Howe, you will LOVE this.

Nice very nice
GTR was a superband in the 80's with former Yes guitarist Steve Howe and former Genesis guitarist Steve Hacket. Some people got great expectations about this record, some think the result is bad and some like me definitively love it. This one is a lot in the Asia vein of music, arena rock, AOR. Has some prog rock touches and a lot of 80's sound. If you like the 80's sound I recommend this record. If you expect this one sounds like Yes or Genesis in the seventies, this record it's not for you.

GTR Best forgotten CD of 80's
I finally received my GTR CDS to replace my old copy. I enjoy listening to studio cd but the live cd in my opinion is outstanding. I never would have thought these guys were such an excellent band live. I love the Genesis & Yes songs thrown along with both Steves solo tunes. 5 Stars for these CDS. If you are a fan of Steve Howe or Steve Hackett this is a must have for your CD library.

I admit I really like Steve Hackett and also Steve Howe from Yes so ...
I finally got this GTR one and only studio album. I did have the second disc of their live concert. I admit I really like Steve Hackett and also Steve Howe from Yes so when they combined to form GTR how could they miss. The sound quality is fantastic. The music may be a little dated but it is a guilty pleasure.
