Very thorough and practical explanation of mudras
I was curious about Mudras and wanted to learn more about them, specifically with respect to how they may influence or interact with our chakras. This book provides a series of helpful chapters that helped me see how Mudras work with our energy. I recommend everybody read this at least once, but the second time through helps to embed things much better.

A good short, quick reference booklet on doing 40 Yoga Mudra hand gestures.
Even though well into my senior years I still am active training and teaching seniors (Tai Chi, Qigong, Yoga and Mudras) once a week. One of the things we do in my seated program is practice Yoga hand Mudras and I am always looking for more material on the above topics.Recently I purchased several new books and manuals on Qigong, Yoga and Mudras shopping on Amazon. This 48-page volume (Mudras: 40 powerful hand gestures to awaken your Chakras and unleash the healing power in you by Diane Clarke) is one of them. Interestingly, the front cover page misspelled the word hand (SAYS HANG). This text also had no page numbers which drives me crazy, so I wrote in the page numbers myself and also put the page numbers in the table of contents section. In spite of these flaws that could have been solved by better proofreading, this small, short manual has some solid information on the purpose and value of each Mudra. In this respect it is worth reading and using as a reference source. I should also mention that the type and ink on the pages were not very clear, but fairly readable and easy to understand.I also liked the drawings better than the photographs in the illustrations in this book. This text is organized into 7 chapters covering “the science of Mudras, our fingertips are the doorway to balance, general Mudras for everyday living, Mudras for peak physical health, Mudras for specific pains and disease, Mudras for mental stability, and Mudras for spiritual possibilities.”In conclusion, I liked this book because it not only showed how to do the Mudras but also gave specific instructions on what each one focused on and also covered how long to do each of the Mudras. If you are seeking a quick reference source for learning about Yoga Mudras, you may want to check out this booklet.Rating: 4 Stars. The most intriguing idea - a must read for anyone interested in natural health
I've recently begun meditating, and while I'm still very much a novice, it has helped to calm and focus my mind quite a bit. Any natural way to boost mental and physical health is exciting to me, and though I've never heard of Mudras before reading this book, I was intrigued. What a fascinating concept! What a powerful idea! When explaining the practice, Clarke points out that "Our hands stimulate and influence out thought patterns," and from there, I was hooked. The descriptions of the Mudras poses are step-by-step, and she has great pictures for each one, so you really get it. She breaks them down into general mudras, mudras for physical health, to prevent and treat disease, for mental health, and for spiritual well-being. Her writing is clear and well-organized. Somemof the poses are complicated, and I can tell I'm going to need to work into sustaining the gestures for a beneficial time period, but just practicing each pose as I read along gave me a hint of the power behind the gestures. I'm eager to incorporate these into my budding meditation practice.

Issues with illustrations
Poorly printed illustrations either unclearly shown or too light to be clear about actual hand positions. Typo on main cover. EDIT!

Helpful, very helpful
If you are looking for natural ways to reduce stress, heal and maintain your health, then I wholeheartedly recommend this book to you. I have been having some digestive problems for a while now, and from this book I have gotten some wonderful information on how I can reduce these digestive problems and improve my overall health. Before reading this book, I used to take anything to do with Mudras or yoga for granted, but now I take them seriously. This book is proof that there is so much more we can do to improve and maintain our health than by just taking medicine and drugs.

Calming hand gestures!
Who knew that hand gestures could provide positive energy flow to the brain?! After purchasing the book I was able to learn basic mudra, which I now practice all time. Seriously, at the desk, when I’m watching television, and even when I’m walking. These gestures actually help me relax throughout a day that is filled with stress and pressure from the day job. This book is highly recommended to anyone wanting to get started with the basics of mudras!

The content
We liked the content well enough but the book itself is very flimsy and a better binding would have greatly improved the book.

Good information concisely presented
Good information concisely presented. One diagram is very poorly drawn and difficult to decipher without going online and doing a google search. There is a spelling error on the front cover "Hang" instead of "Hand". As well, the author uses far too many exclamation points which is poor style and makes for tiresome reading. While she is trying to be enthusiastic it comes across as loud. Obviously this book was not professionally edited. Still, not a bad beginner's text. I liked the references as to the uses of the mudras.

The book has good illustrations and good concise instructions on how to perform these simple Mudras explaining the benefits you hope to gain from them. It explains their correct names and provides a lot of background information to the practice of using Mudras. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in Mudras, it is very good value for money.
