Anyone looking to purchase this trilogy is already a fan of the SPIDERMAN movies and wants to know how they stand up in the magic of blu ray. We all know that the original SPIDERMAN was an amzing film - a rare treat of exemplary action with superb acting for a change. Tobey Maguire and cast finally brought to the comic action movie acting ability that made the film believable. With Tobey Maguire was born Peter Parker/Spdiderman. We also know that with SPIDERMAN 2 the same cast and crew came together with a film that far surpassed the hugely succesful and critically acclaimed original to be the best in the trilogy. All that was good in the first was raised many notches. SPIDERMAN 3 was still a good film but certainly not a match for 1 and 2. Very enjoyable but a little lackluster in comparison.Now for the blu ray test. All I can say is AMAZING. The source they are working from on the original is not as superb as the other two which makes the picture quality slightly grainy in its 1080p hd presentation. But this in no means is a bad thing. It is still a very vivid picture with blacks and colors strongly presented. You quickly get used to the slight grain and the film becomes the best presentation you will ever see of it. With SPIDERMAN 2 the caliber raises. All grain is gone and the picture remains crystal clear and vibrant throughout. All fight/action scenes are awesome and the entire film will leave you breathless. SPIDERMAN 3 has a picture of the great quality the same as the second film and it helps immensely to raise the quality of the film itself much higher for you will be in awe watching the richness and awe striking special effects.With all three films the English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio is of the highest quality. Dialogue is strong and crisp with all speakers in strong, heavy use for action sequences and it seems even the smallest scenes manage to work the rear speakers which is rare. These three films are at their best here and perfectly made for the high standards of blu ray. You cannot imagine how great these films appear in blu ray till you actually see them for yourself. You will never be able to view them another way again.I do agree that the only flaw with this set is the absence of substantial special features. They do provide the 2nd disc with SPIDERMAN 3 that is all features but do not have it for SPIDERMAN 1 or 2. Having all this would have made the set perfect. So it is not perfect but it still cannot make me lower my 5 star rating for the blu ray presentation of these films is exemplary.If you are developing a blu ray library and love these films this SPIDERMAN HIGH DEF BLU RAY TRILOGY is a definite must. Highly recommended.

This review is for the Spider-Man: Ultimate High Definition trilogy Box Set.It contains the following films: "Spider-Man" (2002), "Spider-Man 2" (2004), "Spider-Man 2.1" (an extended cut of Spider-Man 2 featuring some new sequences, and some entirely different alternate scenes) and "Spider-Man 3" (2007).As for the films, I'd rate them as such:"Spider-Man" ... 8 out of 10"Spider-Man 2/2.1" ... 10 out of 10"Spider-Man 3" ... 7 out of 10 (I didn't hate it, it had a charm and a lot of good factors, despite it's obvious large faults.)The Blu-Ray image is pretty incredible. I already owned all three on DVD, but I wanted to upgrade, as these films deserve the High-Def treatment. All three look significantly better, compared to their standard-def DVD counterparts. The first "Spider-Man" is the least dramatic upgrade, but the image is still clearer, sharper and more detailed... I was able to see a lot of things I missed on DVD (I didn't realize how much of the image was lost on DVD from compression and whatnot, because every shot I was seeing things I hadn't seen since the movie theater in 2002)- so even though it wasn't the greatest Blu-Ray picture quality, it was still definitely worth the upgrade.The second and third films are where the High-Def image pays off, though! I had just watched the second and third films days before this set arrived on DVD, and it is like night and day. "Spider-Man 2" was astounding in terms of how much more I could see in the image. You felt like you could reach into the movie. Textures looked real (DVD won't give you that), colors were brighter, small things (sparks, bits of glass, sweat, water) had astonishingly more detail. It was a huge upgrade. And "Spider-Man 3" was just as incredible- what really got me is that you could literally see things that are invisible on the DVD (Ex. You can see every single speck of sand during the Sandman scenes, and when we see the news broadcast towards the end of the film, I couldn't see the "horizontal TV lines" on DVD at all, whereas here, they're clearly visible.).I can't comment much for sound, as I just play my sound through the TV speakers, but judging from that, everything is mixed well.The special features are where this review almost slips- the only special features are those from "Spider-Man 3", which felt a bit odd. They are cool features, but it seemed like a missed opprotunity.But all in all, the price (which has come down a lot) makes it worth it. You can find really good quality used or even new copies in the $25-$35 range, so I can't complain much about the features- the price is right, the quality is amazing, and what features there are, are very solid.I'd highly recommend this set! Great films.

Wow, the quality of these Blue-ray movies is awesome! Spiderman 1-I feel introduces us to Spiderman pretty good. I think the story-line is great, acting is decent to good. I personally did not care much for Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst). I feel as if she was a little fake and overly dramatic. Spiderman (Tobey Maguire) I know a lot of comparisons have been made to Garfield from The Amazing Spiderman, but for this series, Maguire was great. I am not much of a James Franco fan as he plays Harry Osborn. One carachter that I loved was William Dafoe playing the Green Goblin. I like most of Dafoes movies though. Spiderman 2-I personally liked more than Spiderman 1, I particularly enjoyed Doc Ock (Alfred Molina). I loved this movie, the drama of Parker having to be Spiderman, and the train scene was the best! Spiderman 3 was worth watching, but that is it. The CGI was still amazing, but the story line was horible! They were in a rush to end this trilogy and felt the only way was to introduce a bunch of villians at once. Sandman would have made a good villian for a movie, Venom should have had his own movie! I think the fightes were to short in duration as well. Very disapointed with this movie altogether, but so were millions of other people! Overall I bought the trillogy for $20 with free shipping. My overall rating is for all three movies combined Picture quality- 5/5, sound quality 3/5 (this is mostly due to my TV's limitation, a sound system is in the works) Story 4/5 (Spiderman 1-5/5, Spiderman 2-5/5, Spiderman 3-2/5). Overall value-4.5/5, an overall great value. Spiderman is now Amazing, but we already knew that. lol

All three films have decent Bonus Features, but menu navigation is frustrating.

Was war es anno 2002 für ein "Spinnen"-Hype, als Starregisseur Sam Raimi seine damals moderne Interpretation der Abenteuer von "Spider-Man" in die Kinos brachte. Vom MCU war noch nicht viel in Sicht, Sony konnte daher inhaltlich aus dem Vollen schöpfen und lieferte eine auch heute noch beachtliche und sehenswerte Trilogie ab, von der man sich noch mehr gewünscht hätte. Zwischen all dem Bombast des "Marvel Cinematic Universe" scheinen die älteren Verfilmungen der legendären Erzählstoffe schon fast ein wenig zu verblassen, aber insbesondere die Gerüchteküche rund um das dargestellte Multiversum in "Spider-Man 3" (MCU-Variante), versorgt die Klassiker mit hoffnungsvoller, neuer Bedeutung im Gesamtkonstrukt.Im folgenden sei kurz im einzelnen auf die Filme eingegangen:-------------Spider-ManWir erleben die Herkunftsgeschichte des wohl prägendsten Helden aus dem Hause Marvel: Peter Parker, ein typischer Streber und Loser, der bei seinem Onkel und seiner Tante lebt, wird von einer genetisch modifizierten Spinne gebissen und entwickelt darauf hin übermenschliche Spinnenkräfte. Doch nicht nur Peter darf sich an neuen Kräften erfreuen, auch der Industriemagnat Norman Osborn wird nach einem Selbstexperiment zu einem überlegenen Haudrauf, aber mit einer dezenten Prise Wahnsinn versehen. Als "Grüner Kobold" setzt er zu einem Rachefeldzug gegen seine ehemaligen Kollegen an, der natürlich von der freundlichen Spinne aus der Nachbarschaft unterbunden werden muss. Denn aus großer Kraft, folgt auch große Verantwortung.Mit vergleichsweise viel Sorgfalt nahm sich Regisseur Sam Raimi der Kultfigur an und sorgt insbesondere in der ersten Stunde der Laufzeit für ein fast schon heimeliges Erlebnis. Tobey Maguire war (und ist) eine exzellente Wahl für die Darstellung der "Spinne" und wer auch immer auf die Idee kam, Willem Dafoe als Norman Osborn zu besetzen, war ein absolutes Genie. Wenn ich einen Wunsch für das MCU frei hätte, bestünde dieser in einer Rückkehr des Schauspielers in dieser diabolischen Rolle, denn selten war sein unangenehmes Grinsen angemessener. Großes Kino. Dennoch verliert der Film mit dem aufkeimenden Konflikt zwischen Spidey und dem Kobold etwas an Fahrt, da die bisher recht sympathisch-familiären Elemente deutlich zurücktreten und die Action eben nicht ganz so episch wie in den neueren Werken inszeniert ist - aber der Film hat auch schon knapp 20 Jahre auf dem Buckel.Zur Scheibe: Ich besitze den Film auf DVD und auf Blu-ray. Das Upscaling-Bild der älteren Disc ist dem des HD-Mediums auf den ersten Blick kaum unterlegen, da insbesondere Schärfe- und Detailgrad nicht dem technisch Machbaren entsprechen - und es gibt mittlerweile viele Beispiele hervorragender digitaler Überarbeitung. Ordentlich ist hingegen die deutsche Tonspur in Dolby TrueHD 5.1, die eine sehr gute Räumlichkeit in die heimischen vier Wände zaubert und sämtliche Dialoge stets klar verständlich unters Volk bringt. Extras gibt es leider keine, aber da es sich quasi um eine "Budget"-Ausgabe des Filmes handelt, erwarte ich das auch nicht.Ein Klassiker des Superhelden-Kinos, aber in recht schwacher visueller Präsentation. (Einzelwertung 4/5)------------Spider-Man 2Peter Parkers Doppelleben als Student und Superheld hinterlässt zunehmend Spuren. Vom Pleitegeier bedroht verpasst er wichtige Vorlesungen, was natürlich auch seinem Professor auffällt, der mahnende Worte findet. Aber aus großer Kraft folgt nun einmal große Verantwortung, oder? Als Studienarbeit hat sich Peter das Werk des genialen Wissenschaftlers Dr. Otto Octavius ausgewählt, der kurz davor steht, durch künstliche Fusion eine schier unerschöpfliche Energiequelle für die Menschheit zu erschaffen. Wie zu erwarten geht natürlich etwas schief und Spider-Man hat einen achtgliederigen Gegner mehr an der Backe: Doctor Octopus. Auch Peters Privatleben gerät in die Schieflage, als sein Superheldendasein ihn an einer Beziehung zu seiner Angebeteten Mary Jane Watson hindert und zu allem Überfluss auch noch sein bester Kumpel Harry Osborn ihm die Freundschaft kündigt, nachdem Peter sich weigert, einen Kontakt zur Spinne herzustellen - von der Harry glaubt, sie habe kaltblütig seinen Vater Norman, den einstigen "Grünen Kobold", ermordet. Im Glauben, alle Beteiligten wären ohne die Existenz Spider-Mans besser dran, trifft Peter eine folgenschwere Entscheidung.Unter "Spinnenfans" nimmt der Mittelteil von Sam Raimis Trilogie eine ganz besondere Stellung ein. Während der Erstling die typischen Schwächen eines Einführungswerkes mit sich brachte und Teil drei unter einer Anhäufung seelenloser Actionanteile litt, war "Spider-Man 2" wohl der ausgewogendste Part. Die Handlung nimmt sich viel Zeit, um den Figuren auf den Grund zu gehen, ihre Motive und Gefühle auszuleuchten - was teilweise fast schon ein wenig "soapig" wirkt, aber eben eine ungeheure Bindung zu diesen schafft. Darüber hinaus ist auch der Superschurke nicht von schlechten Eltern und Alfred Molina scheint sichtlich Freude an der Darstellung von "Doc Ock" zu haben, der kein eindimensionaler Gegner ist und hoffentlich von Sony doch noch ein Comeback verschafft bekommt. Auf Ebene der Handlung also ein absoluter Volltreffer, auch wenn es sich noch nicht um den mittlerweile etablierten MCU-Bombast handelte.Zur Technik der Scheibe: Das Bild ist wesentlich besser im HD-Zeitalter angekommen als es doch beim Vorgänger der Fall war, dessen BD-Version schon ein wenig an die gute, alte DVD-Zeit erinnerte. Hoher Detailgrad, gute Kontraste und intensive Farben sprechen da eine deutliche Sprache, auch wenn diese gnadenlos das Alter des Filmes und seiner Spezialeffekte aufdecken. Der deutsche Ton in Dolby True HD 5.1 verfügt über eine solide Räumlichkeit, aber bleibt insbesondere beim Subwoofer-Einsatz ein wenig unter seinen Möglichkeiten. Da hätte etwas mehr gezielter "Wumms" an manchen Stellen Wunder gewirkt. Zusatzmaterial gibt es nicht, aber dafür den Extended-Cut des Filmes (als "Spider-Man 2.1" bezeichnet), der knapp acht Minuten länger als die Kinofassung ist und als Highlight eine Szene enthält, in der J.Jonah Jameson das erworbene Spinnenkostüm im Büro ausführlich probeträgt. Herrlich!Ein exzellenter Film, in annehmbarer Blu-ray-Qualität. Wer aber gesteigerten Wert auf Extras in Form von Dokus und anderem Kram legt, wird gnadenlos enttäuscht sein. (Einzelwertung 5/5)---------------Spider-Man 3"Spider Man 3" schließt nahtlos an den Vorgänger an, wenngleich sich mittlerweile Probleme in die Beziehung zwischen "Everybodies Darling" Peter Parker und Mary Jane eingeschlichen haben, welche diese auf eine harte Probe stellen werden. Und als wäre dies noch nicht genug, machen auch gleich noch zunächst drei Superschurken Jagd auf die Spinne.Und genau da beginnt letztlich auch das Problem des ganzen Filmes: Er ist, für den weit angelegten Inhalt, einfach zu kurz. So unterhaltsam er auch sein mag (und das ist er zweifelsohne), lässt er den Zuschauer am Schluß doch etwas unbefriedigt zurück. Zwar sind erwartungsgemäß mehr oder weniger alle Probleme gelöst, aber in einer so rasanten Art und Weise, dass man die, bereits oben bei den anderen Filmen genannten, bisherigen Stärken der Reihe zwangsläufig vermisst. Aber: Auch wenn die Handlungen einige Schwächen offenbart, ist insbesondere das Finale nach wie vor ganz großes Kino.Technisch ist der Film überraschend gut gealtert und auf Augenhöhe mit dem Vorgänger. Detailzeichnung und der damit einhergehende Schärfegrad sind für einen Film des Alters exzellent. Die Farben sind natürlich und die in der Handlung nicht ganz unwichtigen Schwarzwerte ebenfalls auf Top-Niveau. Die deutsche Tonspur in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 liefert durchgehend immer wieder räumliche Effekte, die natürlich insbesondere bei den Auftritten des Sandman und den Flugeinlagen Harrys prächtig wirken. Gerade beim Sandfuzzi hat auch der Subwoofer regelmäßig ordentlich zu tun, wie es bei einem Film dieser Art sein sollte. Während bei Teil 1 und 2 keine Extras vorlagen, haben wir hier immerhin zwei Audiokommentare, einige Versprecher, ein Musikvideo und eine kleine Bildergalerie. Das haut zwar keinen vom Hocker, aber ist selbstredend besser als nix.Ein vollgepackter "Spidey", der zwar eine Menge inhaltliches Potential links liegen lässt, aber in den letzten 20 Minuten zur Hochform aufläuft. (Einzelwertung 4/5)-------------------------------------------------------------In Summe vergebe ich daher an die "Origins"-Sammlung, unter besonderer Einbeziehung des fantastischen Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnisses, die volle Anzahl Sterne.

Sincerely, these movies have not survived well in terms of attention to details, especially the CGI effects of the first one. Though the 2nd and 3rd are still holding up pretty well.I'm still amazed that there was a time when this felt like a perfect representation of teenage angst and human relations. They hardly show in the flashing spotlights rhythm of it all. Maybe it's just age.However, there is something here that has been lost with Disney taking the reign. This is probably the only real attempt at adapting the Ultimate Marvel timeline directly. And only for that, these will always stay "my" spider-man. Not only this, but there is details in there that you might have missed the first time... And I'm not only speaking of all the official Sam Raimi's cameo, or Evil Dead references.There is a human side to this story. An attention to the audience's relation to a hero.A description of the gas-lighting process that was already at work in a world of confusion.In many ways, theses aspects do feel prophetic. And they also speaks a lot about what we currently are losing to social medias and the internet.Plus, this trilogy did something that almost no superhero story ever does... It ended.Be it from the maturation of Peter Parker into the man that would soon share advice with Daredevil, the slow understanding of the consequences of one's action for the fickle Mary Jane Watson and others... Or the ultimate redemption of the False Goblin.Maybe it's not perfect. And to be frank... at time it is utterly ridiculous.But so was the comic book when you think of it.And despite all its flaws and hellish rythm... it still manages to make you feel.And more importantly think and reflect on the nature of morality.I might not have realized how these movies changed me before I watched them back.I thought I had already seen them for all they were worth... But it wasn't the case.And I'm proud to say that the lessons were learned.
