Great Set!
This set is perfect for a beginner, or really anyone! Nice, bright colors. The markers work like watercolors, except they don't make the paper all bumpy and the brush is always with the ink, lol. But if you're going to be using a sketchbook with paper underneath the page you're working on, put a piece of cardstock between the pages so it doesn't bleed onto the next page!

These markers are every bit worth the money. They are extremely high quality and work just as you'd think they would for the price. Just make sure that you have decent paper to work with, because they will bleed and not produce as high quality of a picture if you are not using them on paper made for markers like these.

The best markers we've ever had
My daughters been obsessed with art since she was little. Shes in high school now and has been exploring new tools. She absolutely loves these markers! Before these, the primacolors were her favorite but in her opinion these are much better. Her favorite part about these it how they blend into themselves so well...not leaving behind those typical "marker stripes". Also, unlike waterbased markers, these do not ruin or pill the paper as you color. These also have vibrate and beautiful colors. A+

Awesomely awesome for manga arists! 8D
I recieved these markers two days after I ordered them, and I must say, I was impressed! One side is like a regular marker, and the other side is just like using a paint brush. I've been able to give my drawings brilliant color, and with very little effort! Very much worth the money.

Love Copic
Good to start out with Caio marker, more budget friendly. Copic is simply the best marker, the colors are incredibly vibrant and there are so many to choose from....definitely recommend $

Copics a big success!
My daughter is a manga artist and recently began collecting copic markers. These markers were purchased for her as a gift. They are not cheap but they deliver on their promise to have brilliant colors and not to run. They were exactly what we were looking for!

Expensive... but good
I asked around consulting several artist who work with artist quality markers before purchasing Copic markers, and several artist recommended them over Prismacolor markers. These markers are not for buying for your kids to doodle with. I do artwork for a living, and I really debated over whether or not I wanted to spend the extra money for artist quality markers. If your looking to buy markers for your little aspiring artist, unless you are wealthy, I'd recommend buying a cheaper marker such as sharpies or something that is washable to learn on before investing in these markers. What you are spending the extra money for is a marker that is more uniform in color, a bit more vibrant that does not streak quite as much as traditional markers. They also should last longer and I believe that Copic markers are one of the few artist quality markers that are refillable. Unfortunately, if you want to do professional quality artwork, then markers like Copic markers or Prismacolor markers are really the only alternatives I know about. I've not used Prismacolor markers, but from talking with other artist, the consensus was that these are slightly superior and cost are about equal. With markers, it is difficult to mix colors, so an 8 marker set is not going to provide a wide enough range of colors to work with for anything but basic cartoon drawing. If your looking to do more than simple cartoon work, you'll probably have to spend another $200 on markers before you have a wide enough range of colors. This set does have a good set of basic colors, so it was ideal for me to experiment with before deciding whether or not I wanted to buy more. I did end up buying two more sets as I was pleased with how vibrant the colors were, the feel of the marker, and the uniformity of the color. As an artist with a limited budget, it will probably be quite some time before I invest in more colors. If you want to see some samples of artwork created using these markers, you can check out my art at [...] which includes a couple images made with these markers. The fine brush end is fantastic. This may be a case of you get what you pay for... though I still feel that they are way over priced. Unless you sell your artwork as I do, in most cases, cheaper Sharpie markers will do just fine and cost a third the price. As these colors are specifically marketed for Manga artwork which is a cartoon style popular among young artist... I would tell most aspiring artist to wait until they have at least their basic skills before investing in these markers, but if they are serious about pursuing art, they would not be a bad investment. A kid who simply likes to doodle on the back of their notebook, I would tell them to save their money.
