Required reading for pet owners
This book really changes the game of how you set up your animal’s day. A LOT of these principles/ideas apply across species so my cats AND dog have benefited from it.Lots of research went into this only to be put into digestible bits. Stories help with visualizing the information and applying it. So happy to have read this!

Must read for everyone who owns or knows a dog!
So many ignorant owners out there - including me! Your dog needs to be engaged, not just let out in the backyard on a leash. Entice her sense of smell, hearing, taste, sight, etc. Dogs get bored and chew up things. They miss you - even when you're just watching TV. But there's so much more you can do for them and they deserve it. Look at all they put up from you and yet they still love you to death! Dogs are the absolute best, but they get anxious, nervous, stressed and can feel unfulfilled. This book tells you what to do to return the love to your very best friend. Take the time to follow some of the tips and you'll have a happier dog - if you can even imagine such a thing! Dogs rock and we don't deserve them. This book will help you bond more closely and feel better about yourself for doing so. And please, if you see a dog tied up all day with nothing to do, or you know of a dog who is being abused or mistreated or left out in the cold - PLEASE call your local Humane Society and get that dog some help. Don't be afraid - calls are anonymous and you will be doing the right thing.

The most important book out there about dog behavior and wellness
I'd passed by this book at dog behavior conferences for a year until I heard the authors interviewed on a podcast. This book is much more than how to stuff a Kong. It dives into how dogs learn and what makes them thrive from a behavioral wellness perspective. The history of enrichment was fascinating as well as the facts from research related to animal and human learning.I've been recommending this book to my dog behavior clients who are interested in an in depth understanding of how to help our dogs live the best live possible and they are loving it.

Great combination of science and recommendations
The most useful dog book I have found. (I bought 5.) Knowledgeable authors i. d. behaviors hardwired into your dog and therefore not able to be eliminated--but other situations, activities, or toys may satisfy the impetus and mitigate or prevent the undesirable behavior. Their methods use positive reinforcement, and they argue clearly and convincingly against the negative reinforcement because it hampers training. This would be a great gift for someone with a new puppy. My pup's "sister" is 15, and she has learned from this training as well. This includes more of the science base than the manual with a similar name.

Helpful!
This is a quick, easy to read guide to ensuring you are meeting your dog's needs on a regular basis. As someone who is working with a dog that has some challenging behaviors, it's been great to see how providing more enrichment has helped our progress.

Must have!
After owning and training dogs for over 20 years and spending most of that time devouring all the best science based information I can find, I am rarely utterly floored by books intended for dog owners who generally are not hardcore training geeks. This book is a wonderful exception to this! Enrichment has been in my repertoire for a long time and I have collected ideas and information on it from the perspective of dogs but also how it is used in bettering the quality of life of zoo animals. This book, however, lays out such a comprehensive view of enrichment and meeting our dogs needs that it is sure to have a significant effect on how I approach keeping my 20+ dogs happy and entertained. There are few books I consider "must have" or even "must read" for every dog owner but this is certainly one of them!

More general than specific
I bought this hoping to get new and different ideas for enrichment. It is a very good book in that it gives a very thorough overall understanding of dog behaviour and would be a great introduction for anyone who is just learning about this. I have already read a lot around this subject, however, and wasn't particularly inspired by what seemed to me to be fairly standard suggestions for canine enrichment, albeit I know some more about the context in which this is important.

really helpful
I have a reactive Border Collie and was getting into a right mess trying to find my way through a maze of dog training books/videos. This book put everything into perspective helped me to understand how to help her with easy to understand examples and lots of encouragement- not to get myself into a stress about not doing enough with her. Small steps, clear goals, and to keep positive. I would recommend it to every dog owner.

Think you know about canine enrichment? This book will make you rethink everything!
I thought this was just another book about enrichment until I saw the authors discussing this book online. It is fascinating as they dive deep into the subject, explain the science and put the dog at the centre of everything. That may sound odd, but I'm sure we've all bought or made enrichment items that we think are great but the dog ignores them! This book open your eyes to enrichment being so much more than food and foraging toys. It is well written and a very engaging read. It's now amongst my favourite dog training books.

Feeling inspired to make my dog's life even better!!!
This book is must have for all dog owners. The focus of the book is dog enrichment but it delves into training, nutrition etc all for the sake of making you dog happy. I'm going away from this book with a rough action plan for my dog's enrichment. I'm slightly overwhelmed but the authors do make a point doing what you can and taking your time. I will definitely be re-reading this book!
